Yesterday Year 5 took part in a morning of sport to get into the Olympic spirit at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park! We got the chance to participate in several different exciting sports! From boxing to handball we had a excellent time learning from the coaches. A lot of fun was had by all and they each received a medal for their hard work and teamwork skills!
On Friday 8th July I took two teams to compete in the Girls Kwik Cricket Competition at Victoria Park. These two teams were amazingly talented at school so I knew they were going to be fantastic and place high in the competition. Even though I knew how talented they were I was not prepared for how outstanding their performance was. Team B were just awesome. After a tough start they pushed themselves and took on a positive mindset! They made it all the way to the semi -finals! Well done Team B!! Team A also displayed some of the best played cricket I have ever seen from Virginia students. They worked as a team, motivated each other and listened to their captain Anishah. They won all their group stage matches and went on to win in the final against John Scurr. Joanna Y5 was an excellent fielder and even the umpires of the day remarked on what a strong and talented team they are. I am so PROUD of them! They have pushed themselves by coming to club, practicing at lunch times, researching and doing cricket based homework. They have proved that they are really the best in Tower Hamlets this year by winning both Indoor and Outdoor Girls Cricket Competitions. They are all equally amazing and I hope that some of them go on to be the best they can be not only in cricket but in all areas of Sport. They have made my year! :) Emily |
