School Council
A School Council is a group of children, elected by their peers who meet and discuss how to make the school a better place.
Children in Key Stage 1 who want to be a School Councillor stand up at Key Stage 1 assembly and tell their peers why they want to be a School Councillor. In Key Stage 2, children give a formal speech/presentation to the whole school during assembly, explaining fully why they want to be a School Councillors. After this, each class holds a secret ballot to elect their representatives for the School Council. |

Becoming a School Councillor
School Council Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
|
School Councillors are responsible for ensuring that actions decided at meetings are carried out. In addition the School Council sometimes helps to write special project bids; to help the school can get additional funds. For example, a subcommittee of School Councillors have worked as a team with school staff and have successfully won additional funding for a school pond. Fund Raising The School Council is also involved in fund raising for different charities. We believe it is important to help others on a national and global level. Every year we choose one local charity and one national or international charity that we will support and fundraise for. In addition we have one fundraising event where we raise funds for our school. The School Council fund raising committee work with school staff to decide, organise and publicise these events. |
Below is a list of qualities and attributes we want to develop in our Pupil Leaders.
