FANFEST 2018Today I took 30 children to take part in 'Fanfest 2018' at Redbridge Sports Centre ! The sports festival is open to all primary schools of London from year 3 to year 6. FanFest is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the London Youth Games, part of School Games. The children had 4 sessions across the day in a range of different sports! The first session was Street Dance which was very cool! Although it was FREEZING, the children and I danced our way through! The second activity was called 'The Media Zone'. We were interviewed by the volunteers about our favourite sports and got the chance to dress up and have some photo fun! Next we went inside to the Athletics session! Here we learnt about Paralympic sports for someone who is visually impaired. This was a great activity where we really had to show our team work skills! Last but not least was the seated volleyball session! I think I can speak on behalf of the children and say this was the firm favourite session of the day! ''I really enjoyed learning how to do the wave!'' - Steven! (Street Dance) ''Today was great!'' - Ibby ''The volleyball was so much fun'' - Amirah ''We had to trust our partner to jump over the hurdles, it was fun!'' - Ayman. Such an active fun filled day enjoyed by all! Emily We have not let the weather get in our way with our PE this spring term! At the start of the term Year 5 enjoyed two weeks of intensive swimming lessons at the Olympic pool with most children now able to swim over 25m! Year 3 had one week of intensive swimming lessons and a lot of children stepped out of their comfort zones and performed very well! Year 6 have been expanding their Handball skills with Theo, whilst Year 4 are receiving cricket curriculum support with the much loved Jahid! Year 5 are now completing hockey sessions with a coach and Year 1 and 2 have worked super hard on their bat and ball skills! This is only a short summary of some of the great PE learning that we take part in here at VPS! Well done everyone! |
