Oranges and lemons Say the bells of St Clement's You owe me five farthings Say the bells of St Martin's When will you pay me? Say the bells of Old Bailey When I grow rich Say the bells of Shoreditch When will that be? Say the bells of Stepney I do not know Say the great bells of Bow Here comes a candle To light you to bed Here comes a candle To light you to bed Here comes the chopper to chop up your bread! The bells of Shoreditch are very near school... Can you go to see the tower they are in? Maybe you could draw a picture of Shoreditch Church - or take a selfie outside!
As an extra challenge I wonder if you could visit any other of the bells in the song! I can't wait to hear about your adventures. Send in any photos to admin@virginia.towerhamlets.sch.uk Thank you to those families who have sent in pictures for our 'Where in the World' display - it's looking great! We are still missing a few though! Scroll back through the blog to find out more. Have a fantastic half term everyone and see you after the break :) For those children who have to stay at home this week there will still be lots of exciting activities and learning opportunities to be had. We have read the story 'A Squash and a Squeeze'. Listen to the song below and join in. What animals are in the story? Draw a picture of each animal and think about what sound you hear at beginning of each one. Can you think of any other words that begin with this sound? p - p - pig! I hear that sound at the beginning of pen! and pan! For fine motor practise today try making the animals out of play dough! Follow this link to play a number matching game. Start with numbers up to 5 and then challenge yourself with numbers up to 10! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/teddy-numbers We look forward to hearing how you've got on :)
Send pictures of your learning to admin@virginia.towerhamlets.sch.uk and put 'for lucy' in the subject.
For those children who have to stay at home this week there will still be lots of exciting activities and learning opportunities to be had!
We have read the story 'Old Bear' in reception.
Lucy read the story to nursery last year...have a listen! These are some questions you can think about with your grown up at home! How did the animals feel when they thought Old Bear might never be rescued from the attic? How do you know? What happened at the beginning? What happened in the middle? What happened at the end? What was the most exciting part of the story for you?! These are some of the words we've talked about: ladder, marvellous, trap door, rescue, lonely, brave, pilot, handkerchief, parachute Do you know these words? Can you find out or think about what they mean?
Can you make a parachute? What will you make it out of?
We look forward to hearing about your ideas. What fine motor activity will you do today? Have you tried one of these?
Make some number cards!
Start with 1 - 5. Can you mix them up and then put them in the right order again?
For homework this weekend, we will be thinking about independence and self-care.
You may want to try putting the hood on first like a superhero! A challenge...
If you are confident to put on and take off your jacket, practise doing up the zip or your buttons by yourself. Or maybe tying your shoelaces? Can you undo the top button of your school shirt?! Please send any photos of you learning how to become more independent to admin@virginia.towerhamlets.sch.uk with 'For Lucy' as the title. Please scroll down the blog to see the 'Where in the World' homework from a few weeks ago! |
