Homework Friday 27th November

27/11/2020

It was parents evening this week and I wanted to say thank you to all parents who I had the chance to speak to- it was great to talk to you about how your child is getting on! If you have got parents evening next week, can I ask you to check your junk mail boxes for my zoom email- because you don't have my email in your contacts the email seems to send it to the junk box. Let me know if you have any issues finding it. I sent the emails out on Saturday morning.

One of the things that  I spoke to a lot of parents about at parents evening was getting your child to do lots of  writing at home. This is why I am asking for a homework around writing this week!

Literacy Homework

Keep a diary of your weekend. Tell me about Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

In a diary you include:

What you got up to
How you felt

For example

Dear diary,                                     Friday 27th November 2020

I was in the blue zone this morning- I was really tired. I walked to school- it was really cold and foggy. I don't like the fog. First we went for our weekly run around the pitch. After that we did our writing. Next was playtime, I played stuck in the mud. After playtime we went to Violins.
Lunch today was pizza and salad and it was delicious. After lunch I felt really sleepy. We went to the library and then  it was hometime. When I went home I played with my brother. Then I did some painting. I went to sleep early because I was in the blue zone again.

Dear diary,                                Saturday 28th November

I woke up late this morning and had breakfast while I looked out the window. I still felt really tired. I got my toys out and played for a bit. After about an hour of playing we went to the park- I played stuck in the mud and grandmothers footsteps. We came home and had pasta for lunch- it warmed me up after being cold outside.

Next I read my book for about half an hour and then did my homework.

Do your diaries in your homework books and bring them back on Monday!

What a great day!

A quick note for  parents:

Dear Parents,
Next week is Anti-Bullying week and Virginia Primary School Council would like everyone at Virginia to show their commitment to Anti-Bullying by wearing... ODD SOCKS!
Your child can choose their most mis-matched socks to wear to school on Monday 16th Nov.
We look forward to seeing their crazy combinations!
Thank you for your support,
The School Council.

Homework - Topic

This weeks homework is topic based and it is revision of the learning we have completed in class. This week we have learnt about the purpose of the skeleton. We answered our key question: Why do we have a skeleton?

Picture
This week I would like you to create an information text about the skeleton - what it's purpose is and how we make sure our bones stay healthy.  All about the skeleton is in your 2do section.
Picture
Next have a go at this quiz about skeletons.

Spelling

Lastly complete this spelling quiz- again it is in your 2do section. It is the words I asked you to learn last week- Good luck.

Hello Year 3!

Another week done! Please return your parents evening slips as soon as possible. This year parents evening will be on zoom - if you need any support with using zoom please speak to the office.

Homework - Litercy

Picture
Picture
Next I want you to have a look at this picture and think about these questions(talk them through with someone - you don't need to write anything):

What can you see?
Where are they?
What time of day is it?
Who is there?
How do they know each other?

This week I am asking you to write a short story about what is happening in this picture. What are the characters saying to each other?

You need to include speech and the speech must be punctuated correctly. There also needs to be a conversation and this conversation needs to be set out correctly.

Look at my example of speech to remind you of how to write speech:

"Hello where are you going?" asked Alice.

When writing a conversation between two people- NEW SPEAKER, NEW LINE.

"Hello where are you going?" asked Alice.
"I'm going to the toilet," stated John.
"You need to ask first," said Alice crossly.

Good luck I can't wait to read your stories!

Spellings

Look, say, cover, write, check is a method of learning spelling, where children:
  • Study a word.
  • Say it aloud a few times.
  • Cover it up with a piece of paper or their hand.
  • Write the spelling next to the original word.
  • Check their version to see if they got it right.

1. have
2.  went
3. be
4. like
5. some

Put them in a sentence!

Have a fantastic weekend :)
