Making a card (to complete after our whole class zoom!)
On Monday we looked at the calendar and saw that it is Valentine's Day at the weekend. Today, I'm going to ask you if you'll help me write a postcard for my nephew, Max (I'll update the blog with a photo when we're finished). If you want to use a similar design to me...watch the Art for Kids Hub video below to help you draw the funny little heart guy :) Who will you make your card for?
Phonics
Here are some of the fabulous games you've come up with to learn your sight words...can you try one of your friend's games?

Activity
Have a go at playing the memory game with a friend. Turn over two cards, and if they are the same - you get to keep them! Can you spot what the number is on the card without counting? Story time The Great Race - Learn how the Zodiac years were named by the Jade Emperor Last week was Children's Mental Health Week. Have a look at our ELSA blog to see a celebration of all the different ways the children engaged with the topic 'Express Yourself'. https://www.virginia.towerhamlets.sch.uk/elsa-blog
Story time
It's story time before maths today. That's because we are going to talk about the story 'Kipper's Toy Box' by Mick Inkpen in our session.
Maths
Activity
Count out some toys into a box. Ask a helper to take one toy out while you are not looking. Can you spot who is missing?!
What happens to the number of toys when you take them out and put them back in? Ask your helper to sometimes add 1, and sometimes take one away from different amounts of toys.
Here's my toys getting ready to explore 1 more and 1 less! (Do you recognise anyone?) I recorded what happened in different ways.
Phonics
Today we're recapping the sound /b/. When we're learning to read and write, sometimes we can get muddled by the sounds /b/ and /d/! Take a look at the picture below...how might this picture help you remember which is which?! Have a go at drawing the bed, and then forming the b and d over the top of your drawing.
Please watch the video below that contains important information about what to include in your child's observations.
Please note - the expectation for reception is that the children's parents and carers upload their learning at least twice a week. Thank you (and well done!!) for all the support you continue to give your children with accessing the blog. I can see that all children and families are really trying their best during this tricky time. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any support with uploading your child's learning, or with any other questions regarding the blog or the activities set.
