This week......the children have done some great work in maths and English. Here are some pictures of what they have been getting up to. SpellingsThe children have continued recapping homophones this week, I have been really impressed with how much more confident some of the children are in their uses already. We have been using the National Oak Academy website to help us with our spellings, this is the lesson we have been following this week. To help recap and learn the spellings you might like to watch it again at home. classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-practise-and-apply-knowledge-of-homophones-including-test-6cw62d Here is a list of this week's spellings:
The children should write a sentence for each spelling. From this week, the spelling sentences should be on the Year 4:2020-2021 Purple Mash blog. The children can still use their homework books to practise writing the spellings. Don't forget to have a look at last week's blog with a selection of strategies you can use to help learn the spellings. MathsThis week, we have mainly been focussing on rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, while still learning about place value. There are activities set on Purple Mash that the children should complete. They can also play on this game that we have been playing in class if they would like to practise their rounding. www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/rocket-rounding Uploading photos and documents to Purple MashAs you know, during lockdown we were mainly using these class blogs and Purple Mash to communicate with the children. In preparation for a potential class closure due to Covid-19, it is important the children know how to upload photos of their work and documents to the My Work section of Purple Mash. The benefit of them uploading photos and documents to My Work is that teachers can give feedback on the work children have produced. When emails with work are sent to Joan it is harder for us to give the feedback. This week, the children should draw a picture of themselves, take a photo of it and upload it to the My Work section of Purple Mash. This is good practise for them and will build their understanding of how Purple Mash works. Below is an explanation of how to upload work to Purple Mash, the children have also been shown at school. To get to "My Work", you click the yellow "Work" icon in the top left corner, that should take you to "My Work". Once in "My Work", you should be able to upload files. These can be Word documents, photos etc. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
