Endings...and New Beginnings!

3/7/2020

Endings can sometimes feel scary because they often mean that something is about to change.

Or you've really enjoyed something and you don't want it to stop.

But they can also be a time of celebration because it means something new and exciting is about to happen.

To help manage your emotions around endings and new beginnings,
it can be helpful to talk to the grown ups around you.

What are the achievements you've made?

What has made you proud?

What is the funniest moment you can remember?

What have you learnt about yourself?

What have you learnt about other people, in your family, school or neighbourhood?

What did you find challenging?

Try to see chanGe as a chanCe...

- A chance to experience something new.
- A chance to improve upon something.
- A chance to make more friends.
-A chance to get to understand yourself more.

At Virginia, we are coming to the end of the school year...

The next two weeks of school mark the ending of this academic year.

In previous years there would be events that would signal and celebrate that the year is coming to an end...

Being Brave- Standing up for others

19/6/2020

Sometimes being brave means to stand up for people or to stand up to people.
What would you do if you saw someone not respecting someone else's rights?
Would you stand up for them?
Picture
This week we are looking at an article of the United Nation Convention on the rights of the child .
Picture
Picture
Picture
Did you guess it?

What could you do to help ALL children enjoy the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family?

Write down your thoughts before you compare them with the ideas below.....

Feel free to share your thoughts with myself and Amanda in the Assemblies Blog, we would love to find out what you think.

Aspirations

5/6/2020

Picture
An aspiration is a hope or ambition of achieving something.

Most people have dreams or aspirations they would love to achieve, sometimes this is taking on a new adventure, doing something that takes them out of their comfort zone or developing themselves in some way that makes them feel good about who they are.

Aspirations are important  because they can contribute immensely to your development as a person and becoming who you want to be.

What can Aspirations look like?

Picture
Reach for the stars!

Aspirations can come in all shapes, sizes and forms...they are unique to each person but one thing is key... they are something to work towards and give a sense of fulfilment once achieved.
Aspirations can change depending on the timescale of what you want to achieve.

Aspirations for life after lockdown...

We can think about some of the aspirations for what life will look like after lockdown.
Picture
How do you want life to be after lockdown?

Picture
Show our family what they mean to us

To look after nature

To value the people who help us

Aspirations for when you grow up...

Picture
What do you want to do and who do you want to become as you grow older?

Persevering...

Like going on an adventure, achieving an aspiration can be challenging and at times it may feel like you might not reach your goal.
Picture
But being adventurous means facing difficulties and finding ways to carry on and persevere.

Tips for persevering

Picture
If you show you believe in yourself, others will shortly follow.
Picture
Get help from others
Picture
Look back at the achievements you HAVE made so far.
Picture
Never give up, use your growth mindset.

The most important thing about aspirations....
                                              Is doing something about them!

Picture
Try writing down your aspirations, setting yourself mini goals.
Picture
Have a go at drawing your future.
Visualisation is a powerful way to help you believe in yourself.
Try writing positive affirmations
Draw around your hand, make 5 statements that will remind you and encourage you to persevere towards your aspiration.

There is a new Purple Mash blog post for you to share your aspirations and upload any of the tasks suggested.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of your views, Amanda

Being Brave

17/5/2020

Hello everyone!
This week we will be looking at one aspect of being adventurous: being brave. Sometimes being brave means to face and conquer our fears. What are you afraid of?
In this video I will talk to you about one of my fears and what I did to overcome it and then we will explore something that we may all be a little fearful or anxious about...
Hope you enjoy it. Let me know your thoughts in the assembly blog on purple mash or send me an email.

Seeing Everyday as an Adventure

1/5/2020

Thank you to everybody who emailed in your thoughts about what it means to be adventurous, myself (Amanda) and Barbara really enjoyed talking about your ideas and learning what adventure means to you during these times of social distancing!

With this in mind, this week's assembly blog is all about adventure...in the everyday things!

When we think of Adventure we might picture mighty once in a lifetime events...

But if being adventurous means being:

Then this means we can have adventures
wherever and whenever we wish!

Picture
How can we see adventure in the everyday?
Little things that we may have not noticed when our lives where busy and fast might surprise you, make you curious and want to explore more...

On your next daily walk, what do you notice that makes you feel awe? It might just be catching a flower in the sunlight or a bumble bee with pollen loaded up upon its legs.

How can you find more?

Picture
Family time gives us the chance to go on an adventure. Share adventures that your family members have had:
  • Why did they have to be brave?
  • Did their adventure go to plan?

What makes you curious? Can you and someone in your family make an adventure to do inside the house?
