Celebrating Children's Mental Health Week 2021

Hello VPS community...

Today marks the end of Children’s Mental Health Week 2021!

Since Monday we have had a great week taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week.  I hope you enjoyed the various activities and circle times centred on the theme 'Express Yourself.'

As we learned this week ,'expressing yourself' is all about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. You have all been so creative sending in art work,  poetry, music, photography and film to capture feelings and to express who you are!
I really do hope that the activities made you feel good and you enjoyed finding ways to express yourself this week.

However, I want you to remember who YOU are beyond this week.
We should always celebrate and be true to who we are.
The different ways you express your feelings is important. We are all unique and we are VERY special.
Please take a look at all of the AMAZING work that was submitted last week!
We are so very proud of how you got involved in the different activities.

This week our children at school have taken part in Mindfulness activities.
Here is a great photo of the KS2 bubble taking on ' Mindfulness Yoga! The Ks1 children really enjoyed the 'Wellness Warrior - The Power of Yet' videos to kick start their mornings!

Salma and I were amazed at the discussion during Year 6 Circle Time on Friday.  First of all, we  watched this video called 'The Brain House'. This video talks about what happens in our brains when we feel strong emotions such as anxiety, fear and anger.

We then had a insightful conversation on how our mental and physical health has an impact on our bodies.

Year 6 are so confident and knowledgeable when it comes to talking about mental health. We are very proud of the mature discussion that took place.

Here is a collection of some fantastic Gruffalos! We hope to get all of your wonderful Gruffalos displayed  in  school to remind of us of this creative whole school Art Project! Thank you for getting involved and making this a huge success!

Some more excellent artwork!

Not forgetting our wondeful Gruffalos sent in  by parents!

As part of Children's Mental Health Week, reception have been thinking about their emotions. They used different food items to recreate some of these.

Year 6  created raps and songs about 'being who you want to be!'. They were fantastic and had such strong messages inside their lyrics! Winston created a music video of his lyrics - so creative. We loved it!

On Friday we took part in Place2Be's 'Dress To Express Day' - It was wonderful to see everyone dressed in bright colours and in outfits they felt best represented them as a person!
