Morning Year 3! It's Friday and the sun is shining!
Today I would like you to read about the Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses- there were many!
Read the desciptions of the gods - Did you notice that each god has small differences that show who they are? We will read about more Egyptian Gods and Goddesses on Monday!
Write a diary entry as one of the servant girls when Rhodopis gets the slippers from the master. Start your diary by explaining what has happened? That Rhodopis has been given a beautiful slippers and you have been given nothing. How do you feel about this? Think about whether she might consider stealing the slipper? How does she describe Rhodopis?
Nourredine can write simple sentences about what has happened. Then simple sentences about how that may have made the servant girl feel.
Consecutive number investigation. Watch the video link below:
Think of three consecutive numbers- this means numbers that are next to each other for example 4,5,6 or 2,3,4 or 7,8,9. Add those numbers together. Now go back to the consecutive numbers and multiply the middle number by 3. (the first example I would multiply the 5 x 3)
4 + 5 + 6 = 15
5 x 3 = 15
What do you notice? Try larger and smaller consecutive numbers to collect more evidence. If you want to share what you have found out I have set up a section on purple mash to do this.
Do something that you love doing today! Making a cake, drawing, colouring, making a smoothie , playing your board game that you made, reading, having someone read to you, performing a poem, writing a story. Whatever it is give yourself the time to do it today! Tell me on the purple mash blog what you are going to do today.

Maths Yesterday I asked you to complete these following number sentences - I am going to show you the startegy that you should have used and what the answers should have been. (I am putting different number sentences for Noureddine to have a go at.
122 - 95 = ( 120 - 90 =)
17 ÷ 5 = (15 ÷ 5 =)
2 x 18 = ( 2 x 20 )
Use the above strategies to have a go at these number sentences.
18 + 27 =
131 - 86 = ( 110 -20 =)
21 ÷ 5 = (18 ÷ 3 =)
3 x 21 = ( 3 x 20 =)

Hola year 3!
I have been looking through purple mash and have really enjoyed reading some of the post cards and other learning that I have been seeing.Thank you too Samirah,Sinead and Sarah B- it is so nice to hear what you have been up to. Remember to use correct punctuation and capital letters at the start of each sentence- once you have written it you can go back and edit the punctuation. Read it out loud- it helps to hear if it sounds correct and helps you to know if you need to add comas or full stops. I hope that you are all being careful and not having too much screen time- break computer time up with other things like reading a book, playing your board game, making a different board game, baking or cooking and writing a story or doing some art.
I have created a Year 3 Class Blog on purple mash. The above image shows how to find the blog.Click on 'sharing' the globe at the top and then click on 'shared blogs'.
Once you are on the blog you need to click on the green cross in the corner- this will let you write a comment.I might ask you to send me answers to some of the home learning tasks. This can be used for you to ask me questions, ask for help when doing home learning ,to share how you are feeling and what you have been up to. It will help us to keep in touch and learn together! I will see all comments and approve every comment that appears on the blog so your comment may take some time to appear.
So onto today's exciting learning:
Login to Purple mash and search for Beth and the Nile and read Chapter 1 and do all of the activities associated with this first chapter.
Literacy - LO To create expanded noun phrases.
Think back to the story we have been reading in class ' The Egyptian Cinderella' By Shirley Climo. The master sees Rhodopis dancing and rewards her with some beautiful slippers. Your task is to design a shoe for Rhodopis. Think about the materials that the Egyptians would have used. Did they have the same materials that we use today? Draw the design and label it, using expanded noun phrases to add extra detail. Start by thinking about what nouns are involved in a shoe. The strap, the soles (the bottom part of the shoe), the jewels. If you can't remember what an expanded noun phrase have a look at the link below.
Maths- I have updated study ladder with 2 fraction related activities. Have a go at these to help you should be able to see them if you click on the maths activities pod that I have created.Well done to those children who have already had a go at some of the activities on study ladder! Remember your individual login is on the front of your books that we gave out.
Science-LO To carry out a fair test
We have been learning about Friction. Conduct your own science experiment. Choose three different objects and find 3 different surfaces for example a table top, the bathroom floor, the kitchen floor (not when people are cooking!!) grass (if possible) , carpet. See how easy it is to push the three items along on the different surfaces? Which surface was the most difficult to move the items on? Why do you think that was? Which item needed the most force to move it? Write down what you have found out on the purple mash blog or in your homework book-Whichever is easier for you!
Keep smiling year 3
