Happy Easter Year 3! I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you parents and children for having a go at online learning. I know it has been quite challenging but don't worry you are all doing fantastic! We are now going into the holidays but I will still be updating the 2 dos on purple mash with tasks so keep checking that if you want to do any online tasks and I will be checking the purple mash blog.
Please take some time to rest, spend time with your families (even if you have to use the internet to do this!) and do nice things. Try to have time away from screens- go outiside for walks, read books, make up a dance, write a story or a poem! You might want to think about a new skill that you want to learn. I have decided that I want to learn Spanish! What skill could you decide to learn?
During your holiday I have thought of a few tasks that you can have a go at to keep you busy! These are for you do if you would like to you do not have to do them :)
Thank you to Amelie for sending in pictures of what she has been up to her with her mum! Lots of fun and lots of learning!
Hola year 3! So today is Friday and school breaks up today for 2 weeks for our Easter holiday. I won't be updating my blog every every day - I will be leaving you with a project to have a go at during the holidays. I will also be continuing to check purple mash, espresso and studyladder. If you need to message me on there I will respond. You can also go back in the blog and have a go at any activities that you didn't do.
Reading - finish reading Beth in the Nile and write a book review (in purple mash or in your homework book) about it. I will put a template in the 2 do section of purple mash.
My pocket dragon
I was walking in the forest yesterday at dusk when I found a tiny dragon cured in a ball on the floor. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. It is about the size of a 50 pence piece and has steam flying out of its tiny nose. I picked it up and it smiled at me. I'm going to look after him by feeding it some human food and water. The tiny dagon will have to be my little secret! Mum won't even let me have a goldfish let alone a dragon.
it is now three weeks later- my tiny dragon is my best friend. When he is happy his scales glitter silver and when he is angry they glow red. I have named him Fred - he can turn himself invisible! Mum found out about Fred last week ,when she saw him she said ' he is the sweetest thing I have ever seen!'I can't remember what life was like before I found Fred. All I know is that he is now part of the family!
This is my story- what might happen in your story?

Art- I hope you managed to practice your drawing skills yesterday. Today you are going to create an Egyptian landscape scene.
This is your chance to create a landscape of your own. Can you see how the picture has been split into the dessert sand and the sky. The sky uses blue, white, orange and yellow(including white paint to create the clouds). Do the sky first. Draw your camels and pyramid or pyramids depending on how may you would like to include. You can use felt tips, pencils, paints or pastels or you could do a sketch of a scene using a pencil. You could also make camels out of black paper. You can be as creative as you like! Good luck (you can upload pictures of this on the purple mash blog).
I will be updating the blog later on today with the project that you can have a go at during the Easter holidays.
Buenos Dias Year 3! :)
Read this poem through. Perform it for your family- think about how you can use your voice- do yo have any instruments you could use? Could you make props?
The School Kid’s Rap by John Foster
Miss was at the blackboard writing with her chalk
When suddenly she stopped in the middle of her talk
She snapped her fingers, snap! snap! snap!
Pay attention children and I’ll teach you how to rap.
She picked up her a pencil, she started to tap,
All together children, now clap! clap! clap!
Just get the rhythm, just get the beat
Drum it with your fingers, stamp it with your feet.
That’s right children, keep in time,
Now we got the rhythm, all we need is the rhyme
This school is cool, Miss Grace is ace,
Strut your stuff with a smile on your face.
Snap those fingers, tap those toes,
Do it like they do on the video shows,
Flap it! Slap It! Clap! Snap! Clap
Let’s all do the school kids’ rap!
Complete the tasks below. I have included a video to help you answer the tally chart question.
Below is a video that will help you to fill in a tally chart.
Art - Tomorrow I am going to ask you to draw an Ancient Egyptian scene but we need to develop a couple of skills first that you will need! Practice drawing a pyramid and a camel.
Good luck with your drawings! Speak to you tomorrow :)
Hello year 3 - It's April Fools day today!

Write a diary entry - What did you do yesterday and how are you feeling about everything? Are you enjoying having time at home? Are you managing to do exercise everyday? Have you done any baking?
Noureddine you can write a diary entry and answer these questions?
Who have you been spending your time with?
Where in your house have you been doing your learning?
What have you enjoyed doing?
Yesterday when we adventured through Egypt did you notice any hieroglyphics? Hieroglyphics were the pictures that Ancient Egyptians used to write. Below is the alphabet in hieroglyphics. Did you notice that one picture could mean two different letters! That will make one of the answers to the questions a little tricky to work out!
Your last task (if you choose to accept it) is to write a message in hieroglyphics to someone in your house and they have to work out what you were saying! Good luck!!
I am missing you all! I would love you to all write your diary entries on purple mash so that I can hear what you have been up to! I have included a blank diary template on the purple mash 2 do list.
Have a lovely day year 3!

I miss you all lots and hope you are staying safe and continuing to grow your brains!
Over the weekend I (Alice) made a fruit smoothie. I put banana, raspberries and milk into a blender and whizzed it all up. It was delicious!
Hasina has been working in her garden and has been spending time in her garden because it has been so sunny! She has been planting things ready for them to grow as we are moving into Spring. The picture below shows the pumpkin seeds that she has planted.

Once you have read the text you can answer the questions below. Write your answers in your homework books. I will post the answers tomorrow!
In the story 'The Egyptian Cinderella' the servant girls are invited to a Pharaoh's party - but what was a Pharaoh? Use the link below to answer the following questions:
What was a Pharaoh ?
What did their job involve?
Name 2 famous Pharaohs.
Choose one from the website to find out about- write 3 facts about them in your homework book.
Noureddine can write down his answers to the first three questions but does not need to write any facts about the Pharaoh down.
Lets revise unit and non unit fractions.
Click the above link and go to week 1 Unit and non unit fractions.Watch the unit and non unit fractions video- it explains what the difference between a unit and a non unit fraction is. Attached to this blog is a file for some learning for you to complete.Hover your mouse over the document and when it turns into a hand it means that you can click and download the file.- write your answers in your homework book.

Enjoy your day! :)
Morning Year 3! It's Friday and the sun is shining!
Today I would like you to read about the Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses- there were many!
Read the desciptions of the gods - Did you notice that each god has small differences that show who they are? We will read about more Egyptian Gods and Goddesses on Monday!
Write a diary entry as one of the servant girls when Rhodopis gets the slippers from the master. Start your diary by explaining what has happened? That Rhodopis has been given a beautiful slippers and you have been given nothing. How do you feel about this? Think about whether she might consider stealing the slipper? How does she describe Rhodopis?
Nourredine can write simple sentences about what has happened. Then simple sentences about how that may have made the servant girl feel.
Consecutive number investigation. Watch the video link below:
Think of three consecutive numbers- this means numbers that are next to each other for example 4,5,6 or 2,3,4 or 7,8,9. Add those numbers together. Now go back to the consecutive numbers and multiply the middle number by 3. (the first example I would multiply the 5 x 3)
4 + 5 + 6 = 15
5 x 3 = 15
What do you notice? Try larger and smaller consecutive numbers to collect more evidence. If you want to share what you have found out I have set up a section on purple mash to do this.
Do something that you love doing today! Making a cake, drawing, colouring, making a smoothie , playing your board game that you made, reading, having someone read to you, performing a poem, writing a story. Whatever it is give yourself the time to do it today! Tell me on the purple mash blog what you are going to do today.
Have a lovely Friday Year 3! I miss you all and hope you are well!!
Buenos dias year 3!

Reading - Find your favourite space to read and read for pleasure for half an hour. (Noureddine can do his touch typing as well as reading)
Maths Yesterday I asked you to complete these following number sentences - I am going to show you the startegy that you should have used and what the answers should have been. (I am putting different number sentences for Noureddine to have a go at.
122 - 95 = ( 120 - 90 =)
17 ÷ 5 = (15 ÷ 5 =)
2 x 18 = ( 2 x 20 )
Use the above strategies to have a go at these number sentences.
18 + 27 =
131 - 86 = ( 110 -20 =)
21 ÷ 5 = (18 ÷ 3 =)
3 x 21 = ( 3 x 20 =)
