Hola Y2! How are you all doing? It's the end of the week. Well done to all of you who shared their home learning with us this week. It is such a wonderful treat for us teachers. I received some great home learning from Amelia. What a lovely drawing of your fictional character Coco. I love the way you have explored Coco and her personality. Your description of the tree is great. You used varied sentences and noun phrases. You used conjunctions to add more detail. Your story has a good beginning and I like the way you related Coco's experience with what most of us are going through. You have thought about your ideas carefully and sequenced events well. I would buy your book if you publish it Amelia! Some great fractions learning too with neat presentation. Well done!
Have a read of the story below and answer some of the questions. What do you notice about the characters' name? Do you remember what its called when the words start with the same sound?
Have you made a start on your story? I would encourage you to read Amelia's story to see how she has made it her own. So far we have innovated our own character, special tree and a problem / a strange thing that happens to our character. My character Melanie turned invisible after eating the fruit from the tree. What will happen to your character? Today, I want you to finish off the middle of the story with the problem and start thinking about a solution. How are you going to solve the problem that your character is in? Here is the rest of my middle with the problem. Next week I will be focusing on a solution to get Melanie back to her true form.
Melanie started walking home from the park satisfied with the fruit she had devoured. But she didn't realise that she had turned invisible just yet. There was a man riding his bike who almost crashed into her. Melanie jumped out of the way as fast as she could. She thought the man was careless. But was he really? Soon, she reached her street. When she was walking on the pavement beside a shop, she took a glance at the shop window. Imagine her surprise when she couldn't see her own reflection. She was frightened and scared! So she took off as fast as a rocket till she reached her door. Knock! Knock! Bang! Bang! Her mum opened the door and looked around suspiciously. In the meantime, Melanie waved her arms and cried,
"Mum! Mum! Can you see me?"
Of course mum couldn't see Melanie standing there. Besides you can't see something that is invisible.
"That's strange" mumbled Mum as she closed the door leaving Melanie outside.
Complete these maths challenges below. Read the questions carefully.
We are going to make a simple map of our school playground and show location of plants and trees. Draw a little picture to show where you would find plants, trees in Virginia primary school. Use the google satellite picture below to help you.
