Physical Challenge 1: How many ‘bop ups’ can you do on the palm of your hands, with a scrunched up paper ball? Try 10 seconds, 20 seconds. Both hands can be used.
Make the ball with two A3 sheets of paper. Can recycle a newspaper and tape the ball on the outside once, so it does not open.
Physical Challenge 2: How many items of clothing can put on in: 30, 40 and 60 seconds?
*You have to be clothed already and wear clothes on top of what you have.

Physical Challenge: 3 Team Blind Fold Challenge –Parent directs you verbally and through sound.
Have a laundry basket or a bowl. Parent/ sibling to move the bowl sideways to the right or left when challenger is blind folded.
Then parent or sibling will clap/ ‘boing’ on the pan or stamp next to the target (bowl). Challenger to use their hearing senses to try and throw the sock ball in the target. A sound must be made before each throw, to direct the challenger towards the target.
Keep distance close to begin with. Then increase distance to make it a little more challenging.
Remember, be careful! Can you beat your record?

I want you to finish your story in the next two days. I am not adding any new challenges for writing. Focus on your story. Think about your story sequencing carefully; beginning - middle - problem - solution - ending. Read it back or get someone else to read and give you feedback. A good writer tries to improve their writing by proof reading and editing their sentences.

Mental Health Awareness Week

The tree's smile beamed like sunshine. The tree was happy to see it's nourished leaves swaying in the gentle breeze of the wind again. The proud tree asked Melanie to pick another fruit. Melanie tip toed and reached out as high as she could to pick the ripest, juiciest looking fruit that glistened like a ruby.
She took her first bite, the crunch of the ripe, juicy fruit echoed. Then, Melanie quickly ran down to the pond to see her reflection. She could see it at last. She was overjoyed with happiness.
"I am not invisible anymore," she shouted wildly. She thanked the tree, and ran back home to see her parents. She climbed the stairs to reach the 3rd floor. KNOCK! KNOCK! BANG! BANG! Her mum opened the door and asked angrily,
"Where have you been?"
Melanie smiled, and gave her mum a great big hug and said "Don't worry mum, I'm home now."
Since that day Melanie always found the time to go and see the giant tree in the park and took good care of it.
Have I got a clear sequence in my ending and my whole story? Can you go and ticked pink and green for growth my work? Have I written my story in past tense? Did I use adjectives, verbs adverbs?

Activity 1: Create homemade instruments with household items.
Today for music, I want you to create your own musical instrument using items found in your house.
Try creating shakers by using pasta and rice in empty bottles.
You could also try using bottles either with filled with varying degrees of water or empty and scraping them with spoons or twigs to make sounds, or just upturned pans and colanders.
Now have a go exploring different sounds and rhymes you can make with your musical instruments.
Activity 2: Make some music!

Aaliyah - what a fantastic innovation of your main character. I love your illustration of Pearl and the way you have explored her character in depth. Pearl likes playing finball! That was quite clever Aaliyah and great use of adjectives to describe Pearl. Your special tree can fulfill any wish? My wish is that, I want to be in class with Y2 and in topic lesson we are making fruit salad and enjoying altogether. You have a good start to your story and you set the scene and introduced your character by giving lots of information. You used different sentence starters, have a clear sequence and used past tense. Read back some of the sentences to see if you can add more detail. E.g. the school, where is it? What is she learning in the school? Is it an underwater school where she is perfecting her diving skills etc? You have used adverbs and time connectives really well and made the story very original. Also, great work in your Maths challenges. Keep it up Aailayh. I can't wait to read the rest of your story.
Amelia - the more I read your writing the more exciting it gets . What fantastic ideas you have thought of. I can see that you have worked with an adult to plan this carefully and managed to create a good story. You have used familiar story language and your use of adjectives (glorious melody, shiny golden path, verbs (wandering, floating, whistling) creates a picture in my head of what your character is going through. You also used inverted commas for speech. Some of your sentences are long though they are very creative. You can shorten some of those. I am so impressed at how hard you have worked in this story. Great job Amelia! I can't wait to find out how Coco will go back home.
Read this lovely story and find out what happens when James, Sally and Mark decide to play Hide and Seek. Look at the front cover. What do you think might happen? Make some predictions before reading. Once you have finished reading, can you retell the story in your own words to a sibling or an adult?
So today in our writing we will try to solve the problem that our character is in. Have you got to that bit yet?
My problem was that Melanie turned invisible and no one could see her. She couldn't even get in her house. Now I need to find a way to solve this problem.
Do you have any ideas on how I can make Melanie visible again? Remember she ate the fruit from the tree which made her invisible.
Here is my solution.
Melanie was upset. She didn't know what to do. Without delay, she darted back to the park where the giant tree stood tall. She pleaded,
'Please help me, I want to be seen again.'
There was no reply from the tree.
'My Mum must be getting worried, help me!' begged Melanie.
Suddenly, a loud voice beamed from the tree top.
'You ate my fruit without my permission, you must fulfill my wish.'
'What is your wish?', she asked.
'I want you to water my root till my leaves become as green as emerald and my skin become as smooth as marbles.'
Quickly, she ran down to the pond and fetched water for the tree. She fetched and she poured until her hands were tired. The great tree exclaimed,
'My leaves are shining like emerald and my skin sparkles like marbles, you have fulfilled my wish.' said the tree happily.
I want you to use dialogue in your problem today where characters are talking to each other. Remember to use inverted commas for direct speech.
"Please help me!" cried Melanie.
Complete the challenges using the strategy I showed you yesterday. Some challenges are asking you to find more than 1 part. So read the fractions carefully before answering. Remember to draw your bar / boxes to share your number equally.

Today we are going to use loops to complete a task when giving instructions. Instead of writing the same code again and again we could just use a loop block to command how many times we want our game character do certain actions. Use the pink repeat block to give command you can choose how many times you want the bee to carry out an action by selecting a number where the ? is. E.g. repeat 2 times - move forward. Hola Y2! How are you all doing? It's the end of the week. Well done to all of you who shared their home learning with us this week. It is such a wonderful treat for us teachers. I received some great home learning from Amelia. What a lovely drawing of your fictional character Coco. I love the way you have explored Coco and her personality. Your description of the tree is great. You used varied sentences and noun phrases. You used conjunctions to add more detail. Your story has a good beginning and I like the way you related Coco's experience with what most of us are going through. You have thought about your ideas carefully and sequenced events well. When she was walking on the pavement beside a shop, she took a glance at the shop window. Imagine her surprise when she couldn't see her own reflection. She was frightened and scared! So she took off as fast as a rocket till she reached her door. Knock! Knock! Bang! Bang! Her mum opened the door and looked around suspiciously. In the meantime, Melanie waved her arms and cried,
"Mum! Mum! Can you see me?"
Of course mum couldn't see Melanie standing there. Besides you can't see something that is invisible.
"That's strange" mumbled Mum as she closed the door leaving Melanie outside.

Yesterday Shyma asked you to have a think about the tree in your story. How did you get on? What was special about the tree? I thought of my tree idea and decided that it will have the power to make you invisible when you eat a fruit from it. What was your idea? Today your are going to write the middle of the story where your character discovers the tree.
I am going to share my beginning and middle with you:
In the middle of a bustling city, their stood a tall building. On the 3rd floor, there lived a young girl called Melanie with her family and her pet fish Goldie . Melanie was brave but kind. And she was bright but mischievous. She would not sit still for a moment. One sunny day, Melanie was bored sitting at home. Everyone was too busy for her. Her brother was playing with his lego and her parents were too busy gardening. Goldie was pretending to be asleep. So Melanie decided to take a walk to the park on her own.
She walked along the narrow path and watched the children play happily. Soon, she noticed a giant tree that towered over the park wall. It was old, wrinkly and crooked. So she dashed towards the tree to have a closer look. The tree had a strange looking fruit that she had never seen before. Her mouth watered! Melanie reached as far as she could with her fingers and picked a fruit. CRUNCH! CRUNCH! SLURP! SLURP! It was the most sweetest and juiciest fruit indeed. But before she could take another bite... she had vanished!
So that was my middle of the story and the problem (Melanie vanished). How will your character discover your special tree? What will happen to your character? Write a paragraph.
Use senses to describe what your character sees, feels, smells or hears. You need to describe the tree using adjectives. Add details using conjunctions; because, and, but, or, so, when, as soon as etc. Good luck!

Aim is to balance the book from start to end without dropping the book. If the book drops, you complete 5 star jumps/ jumping jacks then continue from where you stopped.

Today you are going to have a go at creating your own special tree.
First, think about what is special about your tree. For example, can the tree talk; sing; dance; grow gold or even take you up to a magical land? What does the tree do when someone is passing by? How does the tree look? How tall is it? How old does the tree look? How do the leaves and branches look? Does it have any fruit or flowers?
Have ago at drawing your own special tree and write what is special around it. Look at the above example.

Remember the bottom number of the fraction is called denominator, which represents how many equal parts there are in total.
The top number of the fraction is called numerator, which represents how many parts shown by the denominator is taken.

I really enjoyed this story because it shows the value of relationship and also show in ways human beings are destroying our earth. The trees sacrifice a lot for us human beings. In the next two weeks, we will plan and write our own version of the tree of life. We will change our main character and we are going to come up with different ideas for a tree. The tree in our story will have a special power. It could be anything that can help your main character and other people.
The tree could:
talk, sing, grow gold, open up to take you to a magical land, have an ocean / a beach inside, have a family living inside etc. Your main character could be a girl or a boy. We will change the setting from a forest to an urban city. e.g. - London.
Today, we are going to introduce our new character. Draw a picture of your chosen character and do a mind map of them. What is their name? Where does your character live? Who do they live with? What is their hobby? What is their personality like? Does your character have a pet? Do they have any siblings? Add as many information you can think of about your character.
We will continue with fractions this week. Do you remember what quarters mean? When we split something into 4 equal parts. If I had a pizza and I cut it into four equal slices and, I ate 2 slices from it, then how many quarters of the pizza did I eat? What would that look like as a fraction? Can you draw and show? Do you notice anything same or different to other fractions we have learnt? What other fraction is it equivalent to?
Remember to check that you have 4 equal groups when working out quarters of a fraction.
