Dear Year 6,
It is Emily's ELSA takeover time again! I help Salma once a week by taking on this job for her - I really enjoy it! I hope you are well. I am so impressed with your work on Purple Mash this week! You are amazing!. You're working so hard and I am really proud of how you've adjusted to home learning so well! Salma said it was so nice to see some of you yesterday at the Year 6 Book Swap! I loved your pictures and have posted them on both here and Twitter for you to see! She rang me very excited to tell me how many of you turned up and how she loved to see you all! I am sure you will be happy to get stuck into some new books :) Clare has also sent me a photo to share with you all to show how she has been spending her time at home. She has learnt a new skill of wallpapering ! Her bedroom is now complete and looks wonderful. Clare wonders what new talents you may have developed over the last few weeks? She said it really helped her to stay focused and was her way of looking after her own mental well being. Well done Clare! DIY Queen! I've chosen the quote below for you to reflect on how far you've come and to make sure you keep going! We are really proud of you! So for today's learning... English:First of all I would like you to read this short story starter about the picture above....
'In a world where everything seemed black and white, it brought colour. In a world where things were often bleak, it brought joy. The drawing of a girl’s outstretched fingers pointed at the red balloon as it floated skywards. Many years ago a real girl had held a real balloon, releasing it into the sky as she hoped her dreams and prayers would be answered. Now, her image and memory were etched on the very walls behind the spot where she once stood. Her story, and that of the red balloon, would be told for many generations to come…' Can you tell the story of the little girl and the red balloon? Complete the questions below: Maths: 'The World Happiness Report is a well-known source of cross-country data and research on self-reported life satisfaction. The map here shows, country by country, the ‘happiness scores’ published this report’.
Take some time to look at this data collected. What are your immediate thoughts? You may need to look at an atlas to help you read this map. Here are a few questions I would like you to make notes on:
Last but not least...To begin with I would like you to watch this video... From now until next Friday I would like you to think about how you can carry out an act of kindness to anyone that you would like to. All of you are such kind individuals, making people smile daily, but I really want you to take on the task of thinking about a special act of kindness and evaluating on how it made you feel. You can do it in any way you would like but just be mindful of what you will do and how you felt when you carried out the act of kindness. Please share with us if you wish! Have a lovely weekend! Be safe - Be happy- Be Kind- Be YOU! Big Smiles! Emily. Comments are closed.
