Eid Mubarak and Happy Half Term!

22/5/2020

There has been a lot of activities across the blogs around Mental Health Week- Have you managed to complete some of the work?  It is so important you look after your mental health especially in times like this.

This class is pretty good at talking about how they feel, and looking after others - you can do this virtually too :) You don't know what impact you may have on someone else by checking in on them, it's so nice to know someone cares about you.

Hello Year 6,

How are you doing!? I hope you've been OK and have enjoyed your learning this week. Well done to those of you who went to the Year 6 Book Swap! We hope you enjoy your new books and get lost in their pages.

So my last activity to you is to reach out to someone who you haven't spoken to in a while or someone you care about... either send them a message, make them a card or just simply ring them and say 'I was just thinking about you...how are you?'
(with parental permission of course )

Remember that it is half term next week so there will be less work on the blogs but still engage with us on PM if you wish.

For those celebrating EID this weekend - I wish you a wonderful time with your family.

Be safe, Be happy, Be YOU!

Emily

Today I want you to have some fun by growing your brain with the 24 game :)

There is an example of how you do it above..

You need to  try to make 24 using all four digits on each card by using any operation! This may test your patience but stick with it and see if you can do it. Send in your answers!

Literacy (Mental Health Awareness Week)

First of all I would like you to watch this short video!

'The bridge is too narrow for the animals to pass...but what can they do?'
 Answer the following questions

1. What is the moral of this story?

2. Design a slogan which could be used with this video.

RE

Some of you will be celebrating Eid ul-Fitr this weekend. Eid ul- Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.

Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fitr means "to break the fast" (and can also mean "nature", from the word "fitrah").

Eid is celebrated all over the world!

Make Eid cards for your friends and family! You can create them on purple mash or on paper at home! Don't forget to send them into us!

Self Portrait

Over half term I want to leave you with a project to do!

I want you to recognise and name the different qualities that make us unique!

FIRST, go and find a mirror and use it to take a good look at yourself.

What do you see?
Look closely at the shape of your face and your distinguishable features.

Next...

1. Have a look around your house for a  variety of art materials - paint, pencils, etc. and  draw a self-portrait.

2. Once you’ve finished,  draw some of your interests or things that mean a lot to you (you could cut out pictures from magazines if you want too! ) If you like reading, draw books - if you like football - draw a football. You may want to draw a picture of a friend or something related to your religion/culture.

3. Next put five POSITIVE words about YOURSELF around the portrait.

If you have difficulty doing this, include five positive things that others might say about YOU!

4. Finish your portrait with a decorative border.

After completing your project think about how you felt about drawing yourself and how you feel about the finished product.

Hopefully we can build a collage of all of your wonderful work!!
WHAT YOU NEED
Hand held mirrors / any mirror will do/ or a phone camera.
General art materials -

If you need any support with this drop us a message on Purple Mash!

Salma, Clare and I are looking forward to seeing what you produce!
