Some of you will be celebrating Eid ul-Fitr this weekend. Eid ul- Fitr is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity", while Fitr means "to break the fast" (and can also mean "nature", from the word "fitrah").
Eid is celebrated all over the world!
Make Eid cards for your friends and family! You can create them on purple mash or on paper at home! Don't forget to send them into us!

How did you find the opening to the Horse of Troy story? Let's watch the full story and create a storyboard of the key events.
I have accidentally mixed up some key events in the story. Sequence them in order. You could use these for your storyboard.
*The Trojans take in the horse and celebrate the end of the 10 year war.
*Helen returns to Menalaus and Troy is destroyed.
*Helen of Sparta runs away with Paris of Troy starting a war.
*The Spartan soldiers creep out of the wooden horse and burn down the city of Troy, they kill Paris.
*The Spartans cannot get into the city as it is protected by a high wall and gate.
*The Spartans come up with a plan to send in a wooden horse with soldiers inside.

What book are you reading at the moment? I am reading a book called 'The Party' which is a thriller. Reading is not only good for boosting you academically - it is a really good way to relax and unwind too. You can often get lost in a book and almost feel as if you are part of the characters journey.
When I was your age I really enjoyed reading and my favourite author was Jacqueline Wilson. I loved 'The Illustrated Mum' and 'The Suitcase Kid' as I felt like I could relate to them.

Let's get started on today's learning which will be about The Olympics! First I would like you to read some information about the Ancient Greek Olympics and then I have set some work for you to do.
The Ancient Greek Olympics
The first Olympics games are usually given the start year of 776 BCE, but they probably began even sooner. The ancient Greeks loved competitions of all sorts, especially sporting competitions. The Olympics were not the only competition games held in ancient Greece, but they were the most popular.
Once the Olympics began, the Olympic competition was held once every four years for the next 1000 years! The games were held in honor of the mighty god, Zeus, king of all the gods. The games were held in the city-state of Olympia. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
Athletics games to compete in the Olympics from all over the Mediterranean. The only requirements were that the athletic was Greek, male, and naked!
At first, the games were made up of foot races. But other sports were gradually added. Besides the foot races, there were boxing and wrestling matches, discus and javelin throwing, and chariot races. Other sports were added as well.
The Greeks took the Olympic games quite seriously. Nearly all the ancient Greek cities sent teams to participate in the ancient Greek Olympics. If two or more Greek city-states happen to be at war with each other when the game date arrived, war was halted for the duration of the games.
Women were not allowed to attend the games because men did not wear clothes when they competed in the events.
Everyone wanted their city-state to win! There was a winner of each competition at the games. All the winner won at the games was a crown made of leaves to wear on his head. When the winning athletics returned home to their city-state, they were treated like superstars!
Christine’s message to children is that, “sport encourages productivity and activity makes you feel better - in all ways.” Do you agree? Does sport make you feel better?
