Ciao Year 5! So I know that our Tower Hamlets singing challenge had to end early due to the lockdown (we might be able to start it again next year) but I have received some news from them about a new project. THAMES are the group that were teaching us the songs, they have started a new project online to get children singing and every couple of weeks they are going to release a new song to learn. They have asked you to read the link below to find out how it all works. You can download the file too, it gives you all the information you need to know. I hope you all join in. We were doing so well with the old project, please keep up the growth mindset and have a go at this new one. Let me know if you have any questions. http://thames.towerhamlets.gov.uk/content/What_we_do/Singing.aspx ![]()
I am sure by now you have all read Barbara's newsletter about the extremely sad news that Lizzie has passed away. If you have not heard about this yet then please read Barbara's latest newsletter on the home page. I know that the whole Virginia team is devastated by this news but we are also here to provide strength for you at this sad time. I know that it can be difficult to discuss a subject like this so I have created a Lizzie post on Purple Mash, so that we can have a safe space to ask questions, discuss how we feel about it and a place to celebrate her life by sharing any happy memories we have with her. Emily has done the same on her Elsa blog. Feel free to post wherever you feel comfortable. I know that everyone at Virginia is sending their thoughts and prayers to Lizzie's family at this time and I hope you will all do the same. Our Learning Today Literacy: Lo: to write an introduction Today we are going to use our plans to write our introduction. The introduction is supposed to get a reader hooked in but also give them important information about why you are writing your explanation text. Don't forget to use the important organisational devices like a title for your work and sub headings. Remember to answer these questions and check your plan for ideas: I would like you to write your introduction independently and use your own ideas but here is my example. Do not copy it. You may magpie ideas, if you are struggling, and hopefully it will help you think about how to write your own version. When you have finished, proof read it. Look for any mistakes to edit, think about whether you can up-level anything. Give yourself a self-critique. You could do another draft if you think it will improve it. Maths: Lo: to identify 3d shapes and their properties Let's start off with some CLIC questions: 41,345,785 + 20,488,853 23,937,382 - 10,383,591 923 x 244 7921 ÷ 61 Today I would like us to use what we learnt yesterday to do some problem solving. Art: Lo: to create artwork in a David Hockney style Today I would like you to digitally recreate a piece of David Hockney artwork and try to create n original piece of your own. Here are four pieces of famous art created by David Hockney. Have a look at his style. He paints quite bold images with lots of strong colours. He also tends to do quite simple designs without too much detail. Can you log into Purple Mash, I have set a new 2do task. I would like you to try to recreate one of these painting using the 2paint a picture app. Then I would like you to look out of one of your windows and draw a sketch of what you see. Use this sketch to create another digital painting on Purple Mash. Try to use inspiration from David Hockney. Keep them simple and bold. Good luck, I can't wait to see them.
Spanish: Don't forget to check the Spanish blog for this week's lesson. Have a great day! Theo :) Comments are closed.
