Good Morning Year 5!
Our mental health challenge for today is to think of a motivational message for our class. Try to think of a simple slogan that will help us all get through the challenges we face. You can post your message on Purple Mash.
Our Learning Today
Lo: to write an explanation text
Today, I would like you log into Purple Mash. I have set you a new 2do. It is called Plastic Pollution. I have made this especially for you guys to publish your final piece in neat for me to read. You can add pictures, change the sub headings and write up your 3 sections. Remember to hand it in to me when you have finished. I cannot wait to read them all! Please make sure you log in and start today. I will be checking in on everyone that hasn't logged in. It is really important this is done this week. I would like to read one final piece from you all. I'm really excited to see them, you have all worked so hard :)
Lo: to order and compare angles
Have a watch of this video just to recap how to identify different angles.
Have a look at these angles below. I labelled them all very quickly. I may have made mistakes. Can you compare them and work out the correct labels for each angle?
All the angles below are acute angles because they are smaller than 90 degrees. Can you draw them in your book smallest to largest. The smallest angle is the one where the two lines are closest together.
All these angles are either obtuse or reflex because they are bigger than 90 degrees. Can you draw them in your book smallest to largest. The smallest angle will be closer to 90 degrees.
Draw the angles below into your book. Can you compare them and order them into three groups. Acute angles, right angles and obtuse angles.
Lo: Plastic pollution artwork
We know that plastic pollution is a terrible thing and it causes a lot of harm to our oceans and its sea creatures. An artist named Rob Arnold has been cleaning beaches and collecting up all the plastic pollution for many years. Do you remember us helping to clean the beach on school journey? Rob Arnold takes the plastic pollution home and sorts it out. Then he makes artwork from it to create awareness around the world about environmental issues.
Watch this video below to learn a bit more about him.
Here are some of his pieces of artwork.
Today's task is to gather any old bits of plastic from around your house and try to create a piece of artwork from that plastic. You could try to create a sea creature, recreate some of Rob Arnold's work or do something totally original. You could use anything you can find if you don't have enough plastic. You can be as creative as you want. When you have finished your master piece, take a picture of it and send to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a great day. Theo :)
