Buenos Dias Year 5!
Hope you found all the challenges interesting yesterday. The highwayman died!! Can you believe it?! Well, I know most of you predicted it so probably wasn't too much of a shock. He was very upset when he realised that Bess was dead and went charging in. Unfortunately, the Red coats were ready for him. The last two stanzas show us that Bess and HWM became ghosts continuing their routine forever, they must really have loved each other a lot! I guess we know why in the pictures they looked like ghosts...
Here are today's activities...
Challenges for today:
Literacy: Can you create a plan for retelling the story from Tim the Ostlers perspective. Imagine you are Tim! How did it all begin? What did he see and hear? How did he feel about Bess? How did it make him feel? What did he do to stop the highwayman? How did he feel when they both died? Brainstorm Tim's feelings and then answer the questions in the plan.
You could print my plan if you can or use the questions as sub headings (like we do in class) and write it out in your work book. You'll have to write this in first person, remember you are Tim.
Maths: Check this page out on BBC bitesize - Today we are learning about measuring mass.
Log into study ladder and have a go at the 'Units of mass' activities.
Art: When a crime is committed but the suspect has got away, witnesses give statements to the police about what they saw. A police sketch artist listens to the description and draws a face. These are called facial composites. The police use these pictures to try to solve crimes.
Watch this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X4Lubyqb2M Ask someone in your house to describe someones face. Draw what you imagine when they describe it.
Finally, if you log into Purple Mash, you should notice a 2do list. I will be adding tasks I think will be useful as extra challenges or just for some extra fun. I have set a 'blank diary' as a 2do. I think it would really interesting to write a short diary entry about your day, every day. Your diary might one day be as famous as Samuel Pepys or Anne Frank! When you write a page, don't forget to save it and then when you open it each day, you can add a new page by clicking the green add symbol at the top of the page.
Please Please Please let everyone in class know about our blog so they can access our learning.
Enjoy. Check back tomorrow. Theo :)
