Buongiorno Year 5!
I hope you all had a good rest this weekend and are ready for our last week before the Easter holidays! What did you get up to this weekend? How have you adapted to life in isolation? Has anything really interesting or funny happened? What has been your favourite activity so far? Please let me know on our Purple Mash blog, I have made a circle time post for our thoughts and feelings. I would love to hear from you all! This weekend, I was busy getting everything planned for you guys and reading through what you have handed in to me. I am really impressed with all your hard work. Don't forget you can also take pictures of the work you are doing at home and attach them to posts on our purple mash blog so that I can see it all.
I am really proud of all the amazing work you are doing, you are all showing a wonderful growth mind-set in difficult times and I would like to thank you all for continuing to try your best. Well Done!
Challenges for today:
Reading: Review a book you have read this week. You can use the 'blank book review' app on your Purple Mash 2do list.
Literacy: Today we are going to start creating a web page all about the life of Dick Turpin, using your research from Friday. Check out the 'blank web page' app on your Purple Mash 2do list.
I would like you to write a short biography about his life using the information you found out. A biography describes someones life and is written in chronological order. You start by describing his birth and early life. Then his adult life and his crimes. Finally his capture, death and how he will be remembered.
This should take you a couple of days. So don't rush your writing. You will need a title for you biography in the heading box. In the menu box you could include key facts about his life: name, alias, birth, death, occupation, marriage etc. The main body text is were you write your biography about him. Don't forget to attach a picture. The widgets box is free for you to be creative. Please save your work so that I can see it.
Check out my example below for some inspiration for your writing..
Maths: Have a go at these using our CLIC strategies:
6326 ÷ 39
723 x 256
82,373,854 + 21,363,513
52,405,823 - 31,850,722
This week we will be challenging our understanding of units of measure by solving a variety of word and number problems. Today our focus is units of length. Have a go at these:
Science: I would like you to research DNA. What is it? What does it stand for? What is it made from? What does it do? Why is it so important?
These websites will be helpful and use Kiddle to find some of your own:
What is the most fascinating fact you found out? Post it to our Purple Mash blog..
Hope you have a great day guys. I am going to leave you with our person and quote of the week. Have a think about the quote and let me know what it tells us. Why do you think Mother Theresa is such an important person and why her actions give as inspiration at this current time.
Check back tomorrow. Have a wonderful day. Theo :)
