Dzien Dobry Year 5!
Welcome to Day 1 of our Home learning! I hope you have all had a good weekend and you are ready to start learning from home. Try your best to set up a quiet space which is just yours, this will help you concentrate on your work. Make sure you have your books, stationery, electronic device, work book and anything else you need in your space. Please take regular breaks from the screen and do lots of exercise. Share and spread the word about our blog with everyone in the class, especially the children that missed the last week.
Challenges for today:
Literacy - Finish reading the Highwayman https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43187/the-highwayman
How does it end? What happened to the highwayman? Why are the last two stanzas repeating the start? Were your predictions correct? I will answer these questions tomorrow but have a think about them today! Remember if you don't understand a word, ask an adult, check a dictionary or check online.
Today I would like you to choose your favourite 5 stanzas in the whole poem and illustrate them with annotations from the text.
Maths - This week we are learning about units of measure. Can you log into your Study Ladder account and have a go at the activities for 'Units of length'. Don't forget to watch the video first.
Science-Watch https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/introduction-to-forensic-science/0/steps/10547 and record your finger prints. It is very important to forensic scientists to identify finger prints at crime scenes. Can you do a search online and find out how many types of finger prints there are? Do a drawing for each type.
I will continue to post an inspirational person and quote every Monday. I think we need them now more than ever. I chose this quote because I think it makes a lot of sense right now. Always be optimists Year 5, we will get through this together stronger than ever!! Make sure you share this with your family! I have chosen Michael Faraday as our person of the week because of his hard work and determination to invent electricity we could all use, we are able to communicate and continue our learning. Thank you Michael Faraday!
Thanks Year 5. Check back tomorrow. Enjoy your the tasks and your day. Theo :)
