Kali Mera Year 5! Well done on another great week of learning. It is Friday today, so that means it is our book swap day. If you have finished your reading books and want a new one then please pop into school today. Bring your old school books with you. Our book swap will be available between 10am-12pm. Remember to keep your distance from each other and stay safe. Also a reminder that I would like to see your favourite pieces of work regularly each week. Please take pictures of your work and send to me at admin@virginia.towerhamlets.sch.uk Special mention to Ahmed this morning. He sent me his geography work and some of his maths shape work. Such brilliant work Ahmed! He has been having a go at all the challenge work including the extra geography challenge. Well done! Also to Dylan for posting examples on Purple Mash of his introduction and process for literacy. Check them out for more inspiration on how to do yours. Great work! Our Learning Today Literacy: Lo: to write a conclusion Today we are going to finish our explanation text by writing a conclusion. Use your plan to help and try to make this section really emotive. We want our readers to learn how to change their life styles and we want them to feel as passionate as we do about saving our oceans. Here is my example, if you need it. Finally, proof read, edit, up-level, self-critique and do another draft until you are happy. Next week we will be typing it up onto Purple Mash so that I can see your final piece. Maths: Lo: to solve problems involving shape Let's start off with some CLIC questions: 44,953,382 + 44,274,592 50,734,000 - 36,472,234 432 x 983 2345 ÷ 13 Today, to end our shape week, I would like us to use all the learning we have done to work through some problem solving challenges. When doing a word problem, remember to read the question carefully and think about the key information; don't rush. Use your growth mindset and have a try of them all. I always tell you, it is not a bad thing to get a question wrong, the most important thing is to learn from your mistakes and try again :) P4C: Lo: Climate Change This afternoon, I would like you to lead a P4C. Gather your family together when everyone is free. As always, could you start the session with a sensible game. Then I would like you to have a chat about the sticky question below to get started. Now, this week's P4C topic is climate change. What is climate change? What do you know about it? Look at this quote from Greta Thunberg. Discuss how you feel about it. What she is trying to say? Do you agree or disagree with her? Let me know what you discussed and how you feel on our P4C post on Purple Mash. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend. Speak to you all on Monday! Theo :)
