Buenos Dias Year 5!
I hope you are all excited to see each other on Monday at school! I am super excited! Please make sure you have read Barbara's letter to check which group you are in. You have to make sure you are at school on time so that we can make sure everyone is distanced in the playground. Remember to bring your reading books and a bag to collect books and reports. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone :)
Special mentions to everyone that handed in their line graphs or shared work on our purple mash blog. You are all such amazing learners. Also congratulations to Ahmed on his new baby rabbits, Cinnamon and Browny. I can't wait to see pictures. You should also check Suhan's latest coded game creation, Dyanblox. It is very cool. He is so talented!
Lydia has recommended that you share this website with your parents. They will be able to sign up and get some free books for you.
Keep sending in your favourite work to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Learning Today
Lo: to plan a narrative
Today we are going to plan the final section of this narrative. Write the sub-heading: His Future. This final section will be about Baboon's plans to leave the moon or not. It is up to you what decision Baboon will make. He might find a way to leave the moon using the NASA equipment or he may feel like he is too old and his job is too important to leave. I want you to end on a cliff-hanger so the reader does not know what happens at the end. They will have to guess. You will have to be very creative in this section as none of this has happened in the film. Here are some questions for you to answer to help with your plan.
Does he want to go home?
What does he miss about life on Earth?
What is his plan? or has he given up hope?
What will he use to get away from the moon?
How will you use a cliff-hanger to make the reader want to read more?
Lo: to problem solve
Let's start off with some CLIC questions:
3,567,326 + 3,795,894
10,457,954 - 4,633,843
213 x 723
7334 ÷ 63
Today we are going to do some problem solving using line graphs. Please read them carefully, look at the data and answer the questions in your books. Try them all, don't give up and use your amazing growth mindsets.
Lo: Time travel
Gather some family members. Start off with a warm up game. Now try this sticky question to get everyone talking.
Now look the image below the question attached. What would you do and why? Where would you go and why?
Have a great day and weekend! Theo :)
