PE
We have PE this afternoon, so give this Wake up with Joe workout a try.
We're starting to create our own dance to this song today, can you come up with any of your own steps at home?
The children have been working really hard this week, we have done lots of learning about inspirational people and why Jesus is seen as inspirational to Christians. We have also completed a DT project where the children have designed and created their own boxes to hold a chocolate.

We are continuing to work on our times tables and speeding up our recall of these facts. On Purple Mash, Monster Multiplication has been set again as this week's task. Can you beat your score from last week?
If you would like other ways to practise the times tables Hit the Button is a great game that we have been playing in class. The children are able to focus on one specific times table and learn the multiplication and division facts linked to it. www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button Spellings
We have been consolidating our knowledge of silent letters this week.
To build understanding and confidence in spelling there are lots of games we can play. This is a great game to play at home to help develop confidence in spelling words: www.eastoftheweb.com/games/Eight1.html Topic
We have been learning all about teeth over the past two weeks. On Google Classrooms you will find a link to BBC Bitesize and a quiz testing what you have learnt. (I know some of you are finding it hard to log into Google Classrooms, below is a link to the quiz - please only use this if you can't log into Google Classrooms.)
The children have done some great work to do with Anti-Bullying Week this week, they are now experts in all the different roles people can play in bullying and understand the importance of talking to an adult if they witness any bullying behaviour. Parent Teacher MeetingsYou should have all received an email this week with your zoom appointment. If you haven't received it please check any junk folders on your email and if not get in contact with the office. MathsWe have been working on multiplication and division over the past few weeks. The children's recall of multiplication fact is really important and is something they are currently using each day. For the next few weeks, the children will have the same homework on Purple Mash where they can practise their times tables and speed up their recall. EnglishWe have been learning all about silent letter this week. Here are the videos we have been using to help us: classroom.thenational.academy/units/silent-letters-3eb2
The children should use their own strategies to learn the spellings. It is really important they spend time making sure they are confident in how to spell them. At the top of this page www.spellzone.com/word_lists/games-290575.htm there are some spelling games for words with silent letters that might help the children to learn the words for this week. It has been another great week at school, the children have work really hard especially in maths as they learn a new method of multiplication. They are also know very knowledgeable about the Mayans, ask them what they have learnt about this ancient civilisation over the weekend. MathsThis week's home work is all about practising the multiplication methods we have been learning in maths. The work is on Google Classroom. EnglishThis week, we have been learning about using different types of punctuation, most of us have also been learning how to punctuate speech. On Purple Mash there is a grammar based 2Do to revisit what we have been learning this week. Welcome back to another week, I hope you had a good weekend.
Here's what we're learning about today. English
This week, we're going to be looking at speech punctuation. Watch this video classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-explore-punctuating-speech-first-c9j30c .
Make sure you are writing down all the sentences she asks you to. Maths
Today we're multiplying numbers by multiples of 10. For example 20x3. 20x3 can be broken down into 2x3=6 and then 6x10 using the place value grids from last week.
Spelling
How did you get on with last week's spellings? Make sure you have practised them all and you can spell them. Try testing each other. Use the different strategies I posted last week to help you.
This week, we're looking at different suffixes, have a look at the video and make sure you start learning these spellings too. classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-investigate-suffixes-er-and-est-suffixes-ccw32d PE
Have a go at this PE with Joe video.
The children have had a great start back to school and are already learning lots about chocolate and the Mayans. They are really engrossed in our new class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There have been some questions about this blog. We are using these pages to provide home learning for children who are at home self isolating. These blog posts are only for children who are not in school. I am now going to make sure these always have "Self Isolation" in the title. Homework on Fridays will still be posted here, these will have "HOMEWORK" at the beginning so it is easier to distinguish between them. Google ClassroomMost of the children seem to have adapted well to Google Classroom, we have spent some time this week going through it. We are all learning, so if there are any questions we will try and go through them together. One of the issues seems to have been using it on a tablet, in order for the children to edit the documents they will need the Google Docs app as well as Google Classroom. MathsThis week, we have been looking at multiplication. There is a quiz for the children to complete on Google Classrooms. EnglishWe have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this week. The children have done a great job of identifying the different parts of Charlie's personality and his behaviour. Their task this week is to write a description of Charlie. They should try to use adjectives and if they want to should try to include expanded noun phrases from their English learning this week. Rights Respecting AuditThe school's Rights Respected Steering Group would like each child to complete this survey: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdyp-rtZf-FoYbvNzgU-aZkHxceqz7Kqu4CuTklZ4iLHQKx_Q/viewform
EnglishThis is the second part of the spellings for this week. Watch the video to recap them. Use some of the strategies below to practice the spellings before you start the spelling test at the end of the video. classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-practise-and-apply-knowledge-of-suffixes-ful-and-less-suffixes-including-test-c9h6ar MathsWe're continuing to look at multiplying by 10 today. Have a look at the questions below and answer them. Don't forget to draw the place value grid as it will help you to see how the numbers get 10x bigger and each digit moves one place to the left. Circle TimeToday in Circle Time we are going to have a class council meeting. Have a discussion at home and decide if there is anything you would like our class councillors to take to the meeting next week. You can take a photo of your suggestions and upload them to Purple Mash.
EnglishToday we are continuing our work on expanded noun phrases. Head on over to Purple Mash to answer the quizzes on them. Try writing the expanded noun phrases on the document on Google Classroom too. MathsWe're looking at multiplying by 10 today. This video should help you understand it. Then give each other some numbers you can try to multiply by 10. classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/using-ten-times-greater-for-known-times-tables-c4t68e TopicRead this page www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zq6svcw/articles/zg2htv4 and make a factfile about the Mayans on Purple Mash.
