Reading- A trip to the rainforest
Listen to this story. Listen to the rainforest sounds- this what a rainforest sounds like because there are so many animals that live there. (There are also lots of plants but they don't make noise!)
How did you get on yesterday with thinking of descriptibve language for the jungle ? Below is a picture of all of the ideas that I came up with! DId you come up with similar? Feel free to magpie my ideas- that is how we become better writers!!
We are going to write a description of the old mans dream! I want you to think
What can you hear in the jungle?
Listen to the audio in the link http://soundbible.com/1818-Rainforest-Ambience.html
What can you see?
I had a go at writing a description. I am going to carry on working on it as I think that I need to consider using a wider variety of sentence starters because remember you can always improve your writing!
Every night I dream of a vast, emerald jungle stretching as far as the eye can see. I dream of exploring its dark depths, as I walk deeper into the jungle I hear the calming sounds of nature : fluorescent frogs ribbeting , bright birds singing and mad monkeys calling. I stare at the ancient trees with the vines wrapped tightly around their trunks and wonder how old they are.In the distance a monkey shrieks I imagine it swinging through the trees. The jungle is filled with colourful sweet smelling flowers that attract fat bees and other unique insects. The sights and sounds of the jungle feel me with joy.
Noureddine- Have a go at writing 4 simple sentences about the jungle.
Counting - 5s and 50s
What do you notice about the similarities and differences between counting in 5s and 50s?
Number bonds to 10
Its Nothing New
If you know that 3 + 4 = 7 what else do you know?
For example 30 + 40 = 70 or £3 + £4 = £7.
Calculation - Addition and subtraction
78 + 45 =
(70+ 40 )
110 + 56 =
( 110 + 50)
Noureddine you don't need to estimate you can do the measuring straight away!
Yesterday you looked at an image of a place called Manaous- what did you notice about it? It is in the middle of the rainforest! Would you like to live there? Think about the story that read today- what did you learn about the weather in the rainforest? Below is a table telling us how much rain falls each month ( the word precipitation just means rain!).
When does it rain the least?
When does it rain the most?
Which month would you choose to visit Manaus?
What else do you notice?
Challenge question- What is the range of rain?
largest amount of rain- smallest amount of rain
It is so important that you are exercising everyday- inside and outside!! Below is a Joe wicks exercise sessionand a dance session.
