Thursday 30th April 2020

30/4/2020

Morning year 3! Things are strange at the moment and sometimes everything going on can make us feel sad but there are lots of reasons to be happy. I would like you to think of three reasons that you are happy today- it could be anything! It could be that the sun is shining, it could be that you are reading a great book, it may be family or friends that you have in your life .  You can write them on the purple mash blog :)
Picture
I want to start by saying a huge thank you to all of you for emailing in your learning and for saving it onto the purple mash system. It is so nice to see you all becoming more confident with posting on the purple mash blog- keeping looking at Marion's tips at the top if you get stuck. Remember this is there for you to ask questions and to post your learning!

Ramadan Mubarak to everyone celebrating the holy of Ramadan. Samirah posted this poster that she made at home. Thank you for sharing Samirah :) It is beautiful.

Year 3 I have to confess I have not been very good at uploading the amazing learning that you have been sending me. I am going to spend today gathering all of the photos and videos that you have sent me over the last week and  tomorrows blog post will be really big. Thank you for sending me pictures of your learning and what you have been up to. It is so nice to hear from you.

So onto today's learning.
Reading

Today is our last day reading the extract I was a rat!
Reread the extract- Look at yesterdays blog. Remind yourself of the vocabulary.
Your task today is to write what happens next- what was the story behind  the boy saying that he was a rat?
Did someone cast a spell on him?
After you have completed this task I would like you to read read for pleasure for 20 minutes- find your favourite spot- somewhere that you can concentrate and get lost in the book that you are reading.

Literacy

What have we learnt about the man so far?
We know that he lives alone.
How do you think  he feels about living in the middle of nowhere? In a place where people leave their rubbish.
What does his dream show us about how he feels?
Tomorrow you are going to write a diary entry as the man- what I want you to think about today is what you are going to include in your diary- think about the dream you have ( remember you are the man) , think about how you clear up every day and how do you feel.

Maths

We are starting our measures - Make a poster of everything you know about different measurements. It may be the names of different measurements (cetimeters etc) It may be conversion facts- how many cm in a m? How many mm in a cm?
Today you will need one of these :
Picture
Use a ruler to measure items in your house
  1. Create a table in your book to record the measurement of things. Below is an example. Remember to put the ruler at 0 and hold it still- also make sure that you are measuring it in cm ( there are inches on the other end.
  2. Convert the measurement to mm. Remember the conversion fact 1cm = 10 mm!
  3. Find at least 5 things in your house to measure

Now for something a little bit differe. I have a question for you that doesn't have a right or wrong answer but it does require you to think and give reasons for your idea. Are letters more imporant than numbers? Think about all the reasons we use letters and all of the reason that we use numbers.  On the link below scroll down to the first video and watch the ideas that spot and stripe have. Then you can write your ideas down and also share them on the purple mash blog.

PE

As you know it is important to keep fit  during this strange time.
