Today is a bank holiday and so I won't be doing my normal blog post but I will leave you with some homework for you to have a go at over the 3 days off. But first why do we have bank holidays? Read the newsround link below to find out: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/49448327 Today is VE day!May 8th is 75 years since VE Day which marked the end of fighting in Europe in World War Two. People remember this day by having parties - some streets even have street parties. Street parties might not be happening this year but how could you celebrate? Literacy HomeworkHere is a picture- I would like you to write a story around the image above- here is the start of it. There are questions to think abut that can help you to write your own story. New York is falling! The words rang in Jim’s head. They were the last words to crackle out of the radio before it stopped broadcasting. That had been three days ago. Jim had not heard any words since then… Question time! Why had the radio stopped working? Why hasn’t Jim heard any words for three days? What has happened in New York? How do you know the picture is New York? How do you think Jim is feeling? What will he do next? What would you do in Jim’s position? Has this disaster struck in just this city, or are others affected? Extra challenge! Sentence challenge! Can you use a colon to start a list in your story? E.g. Jim was hit by a series of strong emotions: shock, panic, despair and fear. He didn’t know what to do next… Dance with Oti- Frozen dance classHave a lovely weekend!
