 Bonjour year 3!

Picture

Year 3 Book swap- Every Tuesday

For This Tuesday ONLY 12:45 pm  - 2.45pm
Every other book swap will be 1pm - 3pm

Every Tuesday we will be running a book swap for year 3 parents to come and drop off the reading books that you have finished and to pick up new ones. Come at any time between 12:45 and 2:45 but please don't come before or after these times. We will ensure social distancing at all times and if there are a few parents at the same time then we will do social distanced queuing.  We have cleaned all the books  and we will make sure it is done safely. Hope to see you on Tuesday!

I will start today's blog by  showing you the amazing learning that you have been sending in.  I have been blown away by the amount of learning so thank you for taking the time to email.Thank you to  Farhan, Noureddine, Archie, Cara, Samirah, Sara B and Amelie. To everyone who hasn't sent any learning in yet- there is still time! Email pictures of your learning to admin@virginia.towerhamlet.sch.uk and put for Alice in the subject!

I have been so impressed with Farhan's learning - keep up the hard work Farhan. You are clearly using your time at home to have a go at all of the tasks that I set! Your story uses superb language and I enjoyed reading both drafts that you sent in- well done for editing and uplevelling your writing! Well done for practicing your jigsaw numbers aswell! It is great you had a go at measuring items in your  house- why not go and find some other things to measure  to give yourself more practice. Farhan well done for having a go at the P4C task- can you add  more detail to your answer? What types of communication are you meaning ? Can you think of any other ways things we use

Noureddine- I am so impressed with the learning that you have been doing! I am so proud o f your poem - mum said that you had lots of ideas and she said you enjoyed reading the poem which is great to hear. I have been trying to upload the lovely video that you have sent me. I will keep trying so I might upload it at the beginning of next week!

Archie and Cara had a message for Rihannon this week as they took on her scavenger challenge- they loved it ad encouraged everyone to do it! They also sennt me a video but again I have not been able to upload it but will keep trying. There is a new challenge from Rihannon today- Good luck!

Samirah has been thinking about the fact that she lives in an urban area and sent a message with her learning:

Hello Alice! It is me ! This is my work for Geography.I have worked hard on this. I do live in an urban area because before the lockdown, it was busy on the streets near me. Hope you enjoy reading this and remember, you can post this on the blog if you want. If you don’t want to, it’s fine. Miss you! Bye!

Samirah I love that you have compared what it was like in London before and after the lockdown- it has changed a lot hasn't it! Do you think London has become more like being in a rural area during lockdown?
Picture
Sarah B - thank you for sending in your learning- I am so impressed with all of your fantastic learning. It looks like you have a great setup for working- it is good to have a table to do your learning at.  I like you have set out the stanzas of your poem. Can you think of better word to use instead of fluff? I have black ________. Do we call it fluff when we talk about an animal?

Sarah B - I am so impressed with your maths learning! On the 2nd question 800 > 80 tens.
What is 8 tens ?  (80)
But it is not 8 tens it is 80 tens so it is your answer but 10 times bigger.  So 80 tens is 800.
That means that  800 = 80 tens.

Amelie has been enjoying some gardening by planting wildflower seeds on our balcony.- you will have to keep us updated on how they grow!!

Amelie has been enjoying spending time outside doing daily exercise- I am glad you are enjoying the lovely spring weather!! (Apart from this week!) She has written  a lovely piece of writing with  such lovely descriptive language!
Picture
Yaqub well done for having a go at such a range of learning - your description of a jungle had fantastic description. I wanted to keep reading!  Well done for having a go at the inference about the old man- can you infer how the man feels? I can see that you are confident with your maths strategies which is fantastic- keep practicing them you can make up your own number sentences to work them out.

Reading

Picture
I hope you enjoyed reading for pleasure yesterday - Sarah B sent me a picture of her reading in her favourite reading spot- looks nice a comfy Sarah!

Today we are going to use studyladder to do some reading . Go onto studyladder and use you individual login. In the set task section I have put all narrative  stories.

Find the story -Dragons in the sky

Read the text twice and then answer the comprehension questions. Let me know if you have any questions. I will be able to see who has done it :)
Noureddine- You can read the story the story and have a go at the comprehension questions- but don't worry too much about them. If the comprehension questions are a bit too challenging can Noureddine  do a sequencing activity. For example the brushing the teeth - can you put the steps in order?

Literacy

Yesterday you  thought about what you would include in a diary entry as the old man who lives alone . Diary entries are where people write about their life- they write about what they have been up to and they also write about their thoughts and feelings.

Think about the man- what might he write about in his diary? What might he say about what he does all day? How might he describe cleaning up all day? How does he feel about his life? Is he lonely? Does he mention his dream?
Once you have completed your diary entry I would like to send a picture of your learning  either to the admin email or on the purple mash blog.
Practice your timestables and doubles on hit the button!

Yesterday I asked you to measure items in your home and convert the measurement from  cm to mm- how did you get on? Did you feel confident measuring with a ruler? I hope so!
It is important you are able to compare the lengths of items- think about the items you measured yesterday were they bigger or smaller than each other? Today I would like you to continue to compare  measurement starting by comparing the heights of some children . (if you have a tape measure you could measure your height and compare your height to other people in your home!)

It is school trip time!

Last term we went on our class trip to Egypt- that was fun wasn't it. Today we need to go on another adventure - to the Amazon Rain forest. Are you ready?
Use this video to make a poster of all of the information that you have found out!
How is the amazon rainforest different to where you live?
Is the Amazon rainforest an urban area or is it rural? How do you know?
Have a look at the Amazon rainforest on google maps by putting Amazon rainforest in the search bar of google maps and pressing enter. Use the arrows to zoom in and out. What do you notice?

Friday Fun with Rhiannon!

Hi everyone, I hope you have all had a good week! It’s a shame the weather has turned a bit gloomy. Today I’ve put together another wordsearch for you all but before you can find the words you have to figure out what they are using the clues! You might find that there is a theme to this wordsearch. What do you think it could be?
