Hello year 3! I am so sad that we can't be in school together but don't worry we have got a lot of exciting e learning to do! Emily has got an amazing ELSA blog which I reccomend you checking regularly- she put information, fun questions , motivational quotes and  much more! Her blog explores how you might be feeling about not being able to be in school. Remember talking to a trusted adult about how you feel is very important.

Hola year 3!

I think that was the quickest week yet! The children enjoyed learning about how fossils are formed and used their growth mindset in maths and literacy to tackle some challenges. I wanted to kick this weeks homework off with a task to work on your well being! Complete the tasks to make yourself smile :)

This week we have finished our class novel 'Stone Girl Bone GIrl' the exhilarating story of Mary Anning's life! It has such rich langage and it is such a gripping story.  I hope you enjoyed reading it! The Blank Book Review is in your 2do.

Learn its

We have been practising our 'Learn its' (these are facts that we just have to learn) everyday in school and I would like you to continue to practice these facts until you can say them without having to think about it!

Spelling Quiz

Picture
This spelling quiz is in your 2dos. It is testing you on homophones for example
"Can you hear that noise?" shouted Bob.
" Come over here please," Said the teacher.

They sound the same but are spelt differently.

Have a lovely weekend! Make sure you relax and read each day for 15 minutes!!

How was your first week back?

Write a paragraph in your homework books about your first week back at school.

What have you enjoyed about your first week back?

Is there anything that you have struggled to get used to?

Spellings

This week I would like you to practice your spelling and handwriting by practicing the days of the week. The sheet below will be stuck into your homework book.

Maths - Rounding

Worry Jar

Sometimes we can worry about things - some of you may worry a little and some and you may worry a lot. We are all different and that's fine- writing these worries down can make you feel better. Draw out your jar in your book and write down things that may have been worrying you.

They might be about corona virus and they also might be about any other worries they have. It might also help to speak about your worries with your parents/ carers/ siblings or friends,

Literacy

Thank you to Samirah for sending in her fantastic Story- it was lovely to read it!!

Picture
Today  we are going to look back at our stories- we will proof read them and edit them.  We will begin by editing.

Read your learning through once. Find a tickle pink and a a green for growth e.g

My tickle pink is that I have used exciting adjectives to create a picture in the readers mind.

OR

I have used the correct punctuation throughout my story.

Then you need to think of a green for growth.

My green for growth is that I need to use a greater variety of sentence starters.

or

I need to describe the fight scene more clearly.

Your next job is to make some changes based on your green for growth - remember editing is not starting again. It is keeping the parts you are happy with and improving other parts- good luck!

Now you have edited - you can proof read your learning.

Proof reading is checking that :
-your sentences make sense
- You have used capitals at the beginning of your sentences for proper nouns
- You have used full stops
- You have used commas within sentences when you naturally need to take a breath.
