Morning year 3! Things are strange at the moment and sometimes everything going on can make us feel sad but there are lots of reasons to be happy. I would like you to think of three reasons that you are happy today- it could be anything! It could be that the sun is shining, it could be that you are reading a great book, it may be family or friends that you have in your life . You can write them on the purple mash blog :) I want to start by saying a huge thank you to all of you for emailing in your learning and for saving it onto the purple mash system. One evening as old Joan wrote a letter to her niece and old Bob sat sharpening his tools, there came a knock at the door. Bob looked up with a jump. “Was that someone knocking?” he said. “What`s the time?” The cuckoo clock answered him before Joan could: ten o`clock. As soon as it had finished cuckooing, there came another knock, louder than before. Bob lit a candle and went through the dark house to unlock the front door.
Standing in the moonlight was a little boy in a page`s uniform. It had once been smart, but it was sorely torn and stained, and the boy`s face was scratched and grubby. “Bless my soul!” said Bob. “Who are you?”

“What did you say?” said Joan, crowding in behind her husband.

Look at the power point below- it explores some of the language in the story and asks you to do different things with each word. The tasks that it asks you to complete are act it out- can you act the word out to an adult and they have to guess what the word is? Put the word in a sentence of your own ( read the sentence out loud after you have written it to check that it makes sense), Finding a synonym for the word, find an antonym for the word and check the meaning of the word (clarify the meaning).

Below are some learning activities and a couple of fun things for you to do over the weekend! Please make sure you are getting out and doing exercise. I am going for a runs and cycling through my local park every day and this is completely fine because I am making sure that I always social distance. Players: Two.
Difficulty: Easy.
Time: 30 minutes
What you’ll need: Nothing.
How to play: One player is the robot, the other is its creator.
The robot must follow every instruction it is given.
The creator should decide on a simple task that he wants the robot to complete.It could be making a sandwich, brushing their teeth, feeding the cat or any other number of random chores.
The creator then begins giving simple, clear instructions.
It is the robot’s job to take the instructions completely literally.
If told to “walk forward”, the robot should walk until they hit a wall and carry on walking.
If told to “turn left”, the robot should continually turn left in a circle until told to stop.
If told to do anything complicated (e.g. “Go upstairs”) the robot should say,
‘Bleep, bloop, does not compute.’
They will need much clear and simple instructions.so stead you would say“Lift your left leg and place your left foot on the stair in front of you,” After the task is completed, swap roles and try a new task.
Tips – If you’re the robot and feel like you aren’t getting enough instructions, don’t stop being the robot to to complain about it.
Instead, say something like,
“Bleep bloop, further data required,” or, “Query: direction of walking unclear. Awaiting input.”
