Wow! Week 3 flew! We have been busy learning how to make 2 digit numbers using base ten equipment and writing equations to match. We are about half way through our key text in English and the children have been impressing us with their inference skills. They are great at predicting what will happen next and using the illustrations to search for clues!
We also managed to get some art done in between all that English and Maths and the children have produced some lovely collages. We wish you could come into the classroom to see them but here are some pictures for now. We especially love the WILD hair on Zaheer's creation! New SpellingsThe children are doing great with their spellings - thank you for supporting them at home so well. This week, we are adding a BONUS WORD! This word is especially tricky but wins you double points in the test! Remember to look, cover, say, write and check when you are learning them. woodland thicket content satisfied peaceful BONUS WORD! ferocious Good Luck!! ReadingNew reading books will be distributed every Monday to ensure that they all have time to de-COVID over the weekend. Thank you for your patience. We can send extra books if you feel they are finishing their reading books early in the week. Just write us a message in the reading record to let us know if you would like extra books sent. Maths HomeworkOver the next few weeks, the children will be doing some preparatory work before starting to learn their times tables. This 100 Square Grid will be used to help them so please help them to fill it out accurately. The 'Splat Square' 100 square is a good one for them to use for support if they need it.
It can be found at: https://www.primarygames.co.uk/pg2/splat/splatsq100.html (Or just search for 'Splat Square' and it will come up! ![]()
Extra Home LearningJust in case your family goes into isolation, this take away homework menu should keep your child busy. We will also send Maths that will be specific to your child's learning requirements.
We would love to see photos of the work as they produce it so do email anything they complete into Joan and we will show the class. They can bring anything they are particularly proud of in when they come back after quarantine. ![]()
