Hola Y2! Hope you are doing well. Lovely to see so many of you on Purplemash blogs posting comments and creating your own blogs. Remember we have book swap this Thursday from 2-3pm. So come along and say hello.
I received some lovely pictures of children doing their home learning. Thank you Yamin, Maddie, Aaliyah and Mohammed for sharing.
Yamin what a great way to learn capacity and volume. You are using different size containers and bottles to order capacity. Below is a statement. Do you agree?
The tallest container will always have a higher capacity.
Can you make an estimate about how much water each of those jars are holding in ml? You can check your estimation by using a measuring jug if you have one.
Thank you Aaliyah for sharing your learning from the last few days. Loved reading your story of Pearl and the way you have used dialogue between Pearl and the tree using inverted commas. You have used some ambitious words and complex sentences. I read your smoothie recipe which has a clear set of instructions and you have given an explanation of the health benefits of your smoothie. It looks mouthwatering! I will be adding this recipe to my list! Great job with measuring length, ordering and comparing using standard unit cm. Love the drawing of your mini-beasts. Well done Aaliyah for sharing.
Maddie your smoothie looks yummy. Was that your first time making a smoothie? What else can you make? I saw that you have created blog posts for your healthy plate, shopping trolley and and the fruit bowl. Like some of the questions you came up with for Grandma and George. Did you manage to dress up as Grandma? You would look fantastic! Keep up the good work Maddie.
Today we will finish reading the last few pages of the first chapter from George's Marvelous Medicine.
If you were George how would you feel when you see Grandma staring at you and approaching you with her old wrinkly fingers while whispering all sorts of strange things? What do you think Grandma is trying to do here? I want you to write thought bubbles for George when he got away from Grandma and hid in the kitchen. What is he thinking and feeling at that moment in time?
How did you get on with yesterday's maths? Today we are going to measure volume of different containers using the standard unit millilitres (ml). Do you remember what the word 'volume' means? Volume is how much water the container, jug or the cylinder is holding.
Handwriting and spellings
Try rolling a dice or use little number cards 1-6 and have a go at practicing these words. How many of these words can you spell without looking.? Once you know the spellings, have a go at copying the words using join handwriting . There are no capital letters. Think about which letters join from the top or bottom, which letters are an ascender or a descender.
