Assalamualikum Y2! Hope you are up and ready for today's learning. What did you get up to during the half term holiday? You can create your own blogs on Purplemash and share. I want to share the trailer from our family assembly, I thought you would like to see it again.
Thank you Mohammed for sharing your lovely work from last half term. I really enjoy reading through your work. You are being a great role model Mohammed. Well done on fractions challenges, you have used a learnt strategy to solve the problems. Love the presentation of your measuring activity. You made some really good estimates before measuring the objects. Keep up the good work Mohammed.
Reading
Today, we are going to read the biography of Roald Dahl. A biography is written about someone's life which may include lots of information about their personal life and their achievements (why they are famous). Can you make a fact file about Roald Dahl with all the information you have learnt?
Literacy
Did you manage to answer some of the questions I asked about the illustration below?
The book we will be reading is called 'George's Marvelous Medicine', Here is the front cover of the book. What do you notice? What is George doing? Who is this strange looking creature?
Meet the characters from the book. Today I want you to make a prediction about what might happen in the story. The main character George who lives with his parents and Grandma. I wonder why George decided to make the medicine... What do you think made him do that? Do you think children should be making medicines? Is it safe? Write your prediction based on the illustration you saw above and the characters you have just met.
I predict that George... In this story I think the Grandma is... I think George lives... PSHE
When I opened the book there was a warning from the author! Why do you think it's dangerous to make medicine at home? Can you do a little search in your house and write a list of the things that you are not allowed to touch , use or put in your mouth? Use the slides below to help you come up with your list. You can draw and label things that are dangerous for you.
Maths
How did you get on with measuring length yesterday? Was there anything tricky when you were using a ruler? What was the longest / shortest object you measured? Have a go at the challenges below.
