Good morning everyone. I hope you had a lovely weekend. I am looking forward to seeing you for our book swap this Wednesday from 1pm-3pm. Just come along with your books that you want to return and pick up your new ones. You might bump into other children from your class which would be a bonus.
I would like to share some fantastic home learning from Samia. I like your book review about the book 'Max and the Pirates of Puddleton Bay.' You came up with some good verbs for actions in the story and made a table with the new words and their meaning. You created your own repeating patterns in Maths. Can you have a go at making a growing pattern next time? Well done Samia!
We are going to read few pages from the book 'Escape of the Giant Chicken.' Are there any words that you don't know the meaning of? Look them up using the dictionary online - https://kids.wordsmyth.net/we/
Now have a go at answering the questions from the book. Use full sentences, capital letters and full stops.
1. Where were the children going?
2. Why did Max say that he is glad to get to the farm early?
3. What does the word 'eagerly' mean? What type of word is it? Is it a verb, adjective or a noun?
4. Why did Ant buy the corn?
5. Why do you think Ant called the chicken greedy?
6. Find all the verbs from page 3.
7. Find evidence to show that Ant was not happy from page 4.
8. What do you think will happen next in the story?
We will finish the rest of the book by Wednesday.
We are almost at the end of our story 'The Tree of Life.' Have you enjoyed the story so far? Do you think the villagers will cut the tree down? Read the last page to find out.
Re-read the story from beginning to end. Can you create a story map to retell the story. Pick the most important parts of the story and draw pictures to sequence story events. Write a sentence for each picture.
This week we are going to recap fractions? Fraction is part of a whole. The parts have to be equal.
Look at the pictures above. How could write them as a fraction. Today we are going to focus on finding equal parts
Have a go at the challenges below.
We are going to do a seed investigation to find out what do they need to germinate (start growing) and to grow into a healthy plant. If you can get hold cress or bean seeds you can carry out this investigation. Below is a sheet we are going to use to make a some predictions.
What you will need:
cress or bean seeds
soil or cotton wool
planting pots / use plastic cups / egg shells
Use the sheet to draw pictures that show the different conditions we are using to investigate. Then write your predictions in full sentences below.
