Good Morning Year 1!

We can't believe it is the summer holidays already, how time has flown!

We just wanted to say that it has been a pleasure to teach all of you.  We are sad that we did not get to spend the whole of Year 1 together, but we have no doubts that you will have a great time in Year 2.

We will not be posting any learning for today, as today is usually a day of celebration in school and we think you should celebrate at home also...  You have all shown such resilience over the last few months and we are very proud of all of you!

Have a lovely, relaxing summer and stay safe.

Take care of yourselves,

Lydia and Eki xx

We are so excited to see you all this afternoon!!

Please see yesterday's blog for the lists and information.

Learning for today...

English:
Use your story maps from yesterday to begin retelling the story.  Here is our class story map.

Take your time and just complete the beginning of the story today.  Perhaps just up to the description of what day to day life was like for lion.

Remember -
  • write in full sentences, using the correct punctuation
  • add adjectives to make your writing more interesting
  • use conjunctions to join your ideas

If you would like to challenge yourself -
Write your own story about two animals that become unlikely friends.
Picture
Maths:
Play 'Shut the Box' with your family.

Picture
Instructions:
1)  Start with the numbers showing on all the cards.  Use just numbers 1-6 to begin with.

2) The first player rolls the two dice.
They can turn over the cards which are the same as the numbers rolled, or choose to add the dice together.
For example, if a 4 and 5 are rolled, they would turn over the 4 and 5 cards or 9.

If a double is thrown, the player's turn ends.

They can roll the dice again until they can't turn over any more cards. When the player can't turn over any more cards, those that are left are added together and that is the player's score.

3) The dice are then passed to the next player who turns the cards the right way up again and then rolls the dice in the same way as player one. They now can keep on rolling dice as long as each time they can turn over some new cards.

When the player can't turn over any more cards, those that are left are added together and that is the player's score.

The winner is the person with the lower score.

PE:
Here is another great workout from Joe Wicks and some Yoga for you to try.  Enjoy!

Special Mentions

9/7/2020

Well done to you all, keep going...only a week to go!!

Here's a special message from the children at school, to show what we have been up too and to say we miss you all!
Asif - Well done for your great maths work this week.  I really like your wellbeing shield too, I think all of those things would definitely help me if I was feeling sad!
Siyana - Well done, I can see you are working hard at home!  You have done a great job with your reading comprehension and handwriting!
Ayana Ali - Well done for your reading and maths work!
Remember to always start with the bigger number when subtracting...
6 - 6 does not equal 12, the answer is  18 - 6 = 12

Eshaan - Great work on your reading and maths.  It is lovely to see you hard at work!
Ameile - Well done for partitioning successfully!  I can see you have been really challenging yourself in maths!  Your comprehension skills are excellent too!
Adam - Well done for your reading and maths work!
Keep practising your handwriting, making sure you form your letters correctly.
Picture
Taqwaa - Wow I can see you have been doing lots of amazing learning at home! Well done!  I really like your monster well being shield.
