The Welcome Space
The Welcome Space was opened in 2014 by Paralympic athlete Wendy Smith. It is an extension to an existing building that we also had refurbished to house a meeting room, SENCO room, speech and language/counselling room and the teachers PPA room. Our vision was to have a purpose built space to support our under fives learning. The children in year 4 named the building which we thought was very appropriate as it reflects our values.
The Welcome Space is accessed via Virginia Road.

Messy Play |
Children love to get muddy, covered in paint and stuff when playing, and we call this messy play!
Messy Play takes place every Thursday 9.00-10.30 in the Welcome Space Play is essential to children’s development. Messy play can help develop children’s senses as they explore the different textures of materials. Messy play also helps children develop their imagination which allows them to play freely. We have linked with Mowlem Children's Centre and a play leader from Mowlem and a member of the Virginia Early years team work together to provide this exciting new play opportunity for children and their families We teach the children to dress for messy play by wearing aprons and playing safely with tools. It is an excellent way to get your child ready for nursery as well as having fun! |
