Good morning Reception! I hope everyone has had a great half term break.
Parents: The reception book swap will not be happening today! We will announce a new date soon :)
Our new story is 'Mr Gumpy's Outing' by John Burningham.
Watch Lucy read the story below and have a go at drawing a story map of the main events.
Remember to draw your story map! It could look a bit like this...
Maths
Find a clear plastic jar and fill it with a number of things, between 0 and 10. Ask your child to make a ‘sensible guess’ or estimate how many things are in the jar! Children guess how many things are in the jar, then count to find out. You can then move on to putting up to 20 items in the jar, so the game is a bit trickier – and they can practise counting and using teen numbers!

A further challenge...
Put up to 50 things in the jar! This will be tricky to count in ones (you might want to try that first, to see how it's easy to lose count, and takes a long time!) Maybe we could line them up in rows of ten, then count them in tens! Comments are closed.
