Today let's listen to another Nick Butterworth story, 'One Springy Day' For phonics, log in to Espresso and recap the /qu/ sound. https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/video/item82441/gradef/module61932/index.html After you have ordered numbers 1 - 20, practise counting, matching and ordering numbers with this ladybird game!
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/ladybird-spots Good morning Reception! Look at these moments from our story 'After the Storm'. Think carefully about each picture. What is happening? What had happened before? What will happen next? What do you think the characters are saying to each other? Choose one of the pictures, and then write a sentence for one of the speech bubbles. If you want a challenge, write in more than one speech bubble!
Start maths by shuffling and reordering your numbers. As a challenge, can you start with 20 and order them from greatest (biggest) to smallest? How long did that take you?! This could be a great time to think about one less!
Each time you select the next number you can ask 'What's one less than ...' For example, 'What's one less than 13....?? 12!' For a challenge you could ask, 'What's 13 takeaway 1?' and then write the number sentence 13 -1 = 12 Have a go at these subtraction problems below. (Make sure you order your number line from 1 - 20 again before you start! Then you can use it to count backwards to solve the subtraction problems!) Good morning Reception! Look carefully at the events from After the Storm. Print out the pictures and put them in the correct order. What happened first? What happened next? What happened in the middle and how did the story end? When you have ordered them, write a sentence for each picture to retell the story. Jumble up and reorder your number cards to 20! How quickly can you do it now?!
Take a look at these addition challenges below...how will you solve them? Good morning Reception! What season do you think the story takes place in? Is it Summer? Winter? Autumn? Spring? How do you know? What month might it be?! If you're not sure, take a look at Espresso and explore the 'seasons' section. Watch the videos and complete the activities. https://central.espresso.co.uk/espresso/primary_uk/subject/module/frontscreen/item1162014/grade1/index.html?source=search-all-all-all-all&source-keywords=seasons Practise saying the months of year again!
