We can mark make a map today that will lead us to all the fires that we need to put out using our special firefighting equipment. Let’s pretend that we are brave Firefighters! Where can you see the fires? How did they start? How are you going to put them out? Use your map in your role play.
Imagination helps us to create stories, to think of new ideas and test these ideas. When we support, facilitate and extend this natural desire that children have to want to pretend, we are letting them know that their thoughts, ideas and their rights to explore are valued. This is something that is developed in children, of all ages, only through play and experimentation. It develops the early story telling, story writing skills that are essential to have before they even pick up their pen.
Can you make some of the equipment that the Firefighter needs? Can you make a fire engine?
Play finger football with Rakhi today and lets practise finding numbers and counting. You can have a go! You can add more numbers if you like and more pen lids!
Join in with Rakhi’s song and actions and guess what animal she is describing. Can you make the sound that the animal makes? Have a go at thinking of your own and use the song to help you.
