Welcome back Virginia, and a Happy New Year to you all! This has started off to be a very exciting term already,as Virginia students will soon be selecting children to be a part of the Primary Leaders Award!
These children will attend a workshop where they will receive training and eventually be a part of the ‘Virginia School Sport Organizing Crew’. Good Luck to those who have began to write their speeches! I look forward to hearing why YOU should be chosen to take part in this exciting workshop - Emily.
The Primary Leaders Award is aimed at young people in school Years 5 and 6 and provides an introduction to the principles of leadership in a sport and physical activity environment. For us that means - Pitch/Playground/Sports Day/Sporting Events/Intra-Inter Competitions.
BOCCIA COMPETITION 26.01.2016
Today, Louise and I took 3 children from Key Stage 2 to compete in the annual Boccia competition! This was our first time competing, so we were quite nervous!
Boccia is an attack and defend game, with two sides competing over a set number of ends. The aim is to score as many points as possible by placing their set of coloured balls closest to the white jack ball. All players must be seated during a game. A game consists of a series of ends.
We had a FANTASTIC day and what a performance Zain (team captain) Parbef and Ayman gave us! After listening carefully to the rules we flew through the rounds and ended up in the finals! Against us in the final was the fantastic team from Blue Gate Feilds who were INCREDIBLE! After a tense game... Blue Gate Feilds stole the show and came 1st place, but we were happy with 2nd place as we loved getting to the finals and they really deserved to win.
We would all like to thank Abdal from THYSF for giving us this opportunity! We cannot wait to get more involved in this brilliant sport and look forward to next year!
