On Friday 12th March Year 5 Girls took part in the local cluster football competition. Filled with nerves, as for many this was there first competition, the girls arrived at Lawdale ready to showcase all of there skills! After some excellent play from all the teams present, Virginia went on to come 1st place with 10 points! This means we will now be competing in the Borough Football Finals on the 9th March. Well done girls! A lot of you had to step out of your comfort zones, you showed respect resulting in winning the competition. Special mention to Mahdiya who was resilient, supportive and an excellent team player. An exciting opportunity arose today for Anishah Haider Year 6 who competed in the London Youth Games representing Tower Hamlets U13 Girls Cricket Team! Anishah works incredibly hard not only in school (being the girls team captain), but outside of school too. After her performance at the Indoor Girls Cricket Competition, Anishah was especially scouted for a chance to represent Tower Hamlets in the London Youth Games! After a few sessions at weekly training she made it through to play and take part in todays experience. As we know to be a great cricketer you need good hand eye co-ordination, quick footwork and the ability to concentrate for long periods, and the girls really showed all of those skills today - but I have to give a particular mention for your bowling Anishah, very well done, I am so proud of how much you have progressed! I would also like to take this opportunity to mention Jawad, Deiondre and Fred who also attend weekly district cricket training! So great to see all of our students taking the chance to develop their talents, and thank you to their parents for their on-going support! Emily Well done Anishah! We are very proud of you.. On Friday 5th February Clare and I took 8 very excited footballers to Lawdale School for the annual Year 5 Boys Cluster Competition! After a 0-0 start, the boys went on to win three games and lost one!
Well done to Yasir and Huzaifa for scoring, Jamil for his amazing goal keeping skills, Eusha and Wahid for their pace and team work and Abidur,Walid and Nadeem for their excellent defending! This was their first ever football competition so a pretty impressive result! Well done to St.Mattias School who got the most points during the competition. Virginia narrowly missed out on a place in the final but third place was a great achievement! Overall, Haque School went on to win in the finals, so well done to them!! The children had a fantastic afternoon and really worked well as a team. Clare even quoted '' This is the best I've seen a Year 5 class play!'' Well done boys! We are so proud of you all.
